Tarhan: "TSK More Active Than Ever in Its Recent History"

Üsküdar University Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, made evaluations on the "Ailece" program he attended on TRT Radio 1 regarding our 11 soldiers martyred in the helicopter crash in Bitlis. Tarhan stated that even when terrorism was most rampant, no Lieutenant General was martyred, and noted that the fight against terrorism was not like today in the past. Using the expressions "Terrorism was not being fought, unfortunately, they were not leaving the barracks," Tarhan said: "Now soldiers are leaving the barracks, pursuing terrorists relentlessly. This actually shows that our armed forces are active and working well in the field. No one should complain. In this period, everyone needs to support our armed forces more."

"Our Armed Forces Are More Active Than Ever in Their Recent History"

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that in such situations, societies need to support each other more than in normal times. Tarhan made the following evaluations; "I also have a military background. Therefore, I know the internal workings of the armed forces. Currently, our armed forces are in a more active state than ever in their recent history. Due to this activity, such losses have started to occur frequently. Even when terrorism was at its most intense, no Lieutenant General was martyred. A Brigadier General had been martyred, and we later learned that he was martyred as a result of various conspiracies. Why are they martyred here? Because the fight against terrorism was not like today before. Terrorism was not being fought, unfortunately, they were not leaving the barracks. Now soldiers are leaving the barracks, pursuing terrorists relentlessly. When this happens, martyrs are naturally given."

"This is How the External Threat Infiltrates"

Tarhan said, "This actually shows that our armed forces are currently very active and working well in the field. Therefore, no one should complain about why they are not being protected or why attention is not being paid. In this period, everyone needs to support our armed forces more; in such situations, comfort and help are needed even more. This is how the external threat infiltrates. The armed forces have now very effectively contained the danger in the Southeast. However, unavoidable situations occur. The martyrdom of a Lieutenant General actually shows that he is walking around in his boots in the barracks. I want to state this."
