Iftar gatherings continue hosted by Üsküdar University. In this context, an iftar program was held with the participation of the World Sayyids and Sharif’s Association and the Geylaniler Association. The emphasis on unity and brotherhood stood out during the iftar program. While the program highlighted Ramadan's role in strengthening sharing, solidarity, and spiritual values, it also stressed the importance of social unity and togetherness.  

The iftar program, held at Üsküdar University NP Health Campus, was attended by the President of Üsküdar University Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, World Sayyids and Sharif’s Association General President Hüseyin Zerraki, and Geylaniler Association President Abdülbeşir Geylani, as well as association members and their families.

The iftar program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Ömer Aikozha.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: “What enriches a person is sharing”

Speaking at the program, President of Üsküdar University Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan stated that the month of Ramadan is an important period contributing to a person's spiritual development. Tarhan pointed out that Ramadan is a time when patience, gratitude, and compassion develop, “What makes a person human, what truly enriches a person, is sharing. Brotherhood and sharing, unlike other living beings, enriches a person materially, spiritually, and in character. Therefore, brotherhood is very important.” he said

Tarhan also pointed out the increasing individualism and secularization today, stating for positive change in the Islamic world, “First, we will correct ourselves. We want the Islamic world to improve, but first we will correct ourselves. We will be honest with ourselves.”

Hüseyin Zerraki’s emphasis on unity and togetherness… 

Speaking at the opening of the program, World Sayyids and Sharif’s Association General President Hüseyin Zerraki thanked the guests for their participation. Zerraki said, “My esteemed presidents of non-governmental organizations, our very valuable sayyids… I thank you very much for accepting our invitation to iftar on this blessed day without breaking our hearts.”

Abdülbeşir Geylani: “Loving the Ahl al-Bayt is very important”

Speaking at the program, Geylaniler Association President Abdülbeşir Geylani stated that love for the Ahl al-Bayt is important for the Islamic world, “Loving the Ahl al-Bayt is very important. Protecting the Messenger of Allah and his family is a duty of the Ummah. May Almighty Allah grant us the consciousness of a believer.” he said.
Professor Nevzat Tarhan thanked Geylani and the university administration for their contributions to organizing the program, stating that the iftar program strengthened unity and solidarity.

Gifts presented to Prof. Nevzat Tarhan

Following the speeches, gifts were presented to Prof. Nevzat Tarhan. The work titled “The Beloved Grandchildren of Prophet Muhammad: Sayyids, Sharifs, and the Institution of Naqib al-Ashraf in the Ottoman Empire,” authored by World Sayyids and Sharif’s Association General President Dr. Hüseyin Zerraki, was given to Tarhan. 
A gift was also presented by the Geylaniler Association.

The program concluded with the Tarawih prayer.
