Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) discussed the topic of “Syntheses of Active Molecules Containing Nitrogen and Oxygen” within the scope of the University Culture course. Lecturer Öznur Eyilcim from Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services, Food Technology Department, participated as a guest in the event held via Zoom.

The topic of “Syntheses of Active Molecules Containing Nitrogen and Oxygen,” organized by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) within the scope of the University Culture course, attracted significant interest from students.
Syntheses of Active Molecules Containing Nitrogen and Oxygen were discussed
Lecturer Öznur Eyilcim from Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services, Food Technology Department, who participated in the online event, stated: “Imidazoline four-one compounds can be synthesized by performing a ring-closing reaction. This reaction was achieved under mild conditions and with high yield. Due to their unique chemical properties, aza-oxyallyl cations are used as intermediates in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Because of their high activity in the reaction, many cycloaddition reactions are carried out on these cations.”
“These compounds can be obtained with aldehyde ketones”
Lecturer Öznur Eyilcim continued her speech by evaluating imidazoline four-one compounds, stating: “Imidazoline four-one compounds were synthesized by Henrik Bilz in 1908. They are compounds with a broad spectrum of biological activities. For example, biological agents against heating, Alzheimer's, and diabetes have been reported in the literature. These compounds can be obtained with aldehyde ketones.”
The event concluded after participants' questions were answered.
