Üsküdar University, yesterday created an emergency action plan to support its students residing in Izmir and whose families live in Izmir, regarding the earthquake disaster that occurred in Izmir. The aim is to contact 174 earthquake-affected students to identify their needs and fulfill them. Additionally, the Psychological Counseling Unit will provide the psychological support students may need.
In the 6.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred yesterday off Seferihisar in the Aegean Sea, 26 people lost their lives and 831 people were injured.
In a statement made by Üsküdar University, it was stated that 174 students with residency in Izmir and whose families live in Izmir are studying at its faculties, institutes, and vocational schools. According to the emergency action plan formed under the leadership of Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, responsibilities were shared to contact students in Izmir after the earthquake, provide psychological support, identify their needs, and meet them.
Mobilization Declared at the University
Within the framework of the plan, relevant deans, directors, and lecturers were informed about the distribution of students studying in faculties, institutes, and vocational schools (MYO). Students began to be contacted to identify and meet their needs.
Psychological Support to Be Offered to Students
Students will be contacted by Üsküdar University's SKS Directorate, as the Psychological Counseling Unit, and the psychological support they need will be continuously provided.
Dormitory to Be Opened for Izmirian Students
According to the statement, a section of the university's female student dormitory will be opened for the use of students residing in Izmir.
