Sufism and Music Education Program concludes with end-of-term concert

The end-of-term concert was held at the Fuat Sezgin Hall on the Üsküdar University South Campus. Students, artists, and invited guests attended the event organized by the Institute for Sufi Studies.

The Sufism and Music Education Program is conducted every year during the Fall and Spring terms as an eight-week program under the direction of Elif Ömürlü Uyar. This year’s program, held between November 3 and December 22, 2025, concluded with a public concert as its final session.

Prof. Elif Erhan: “Since the beginning, we have come together with such esteemed friends as you”
In her opening speech, Prof. Elif Erhan, Director of the Institute for Sufi Studies, emphasized the spiritual and academic dimensions of the educational process. Erhan stated: “Today, we are here together with our participants, instructors, and the esteemed members of Yusuf Ömürlü’s family who have made valuable contributions to the field, namely Elif Ömürlü Uyar and Prof. V. Emre Ömürlü. I would like to thank everyone individually for envisioning and supporting this beautiful concert.”

Elif Ömürlü Uyar: “As we immerse ourselves in these works, our perspective on life changes”
Speaking during the concert, Elif Ömürlü Uyar highlighted the transformative impact of Sufism on one’s outlook on life. She said: “Sufism transforms the way a person sees the world. As we immerse ourselves in these works, our perspective and horizon expand. Today, we will conduct a lesson through the compositions of our master, Yusuf Ömürlü. On this meaningful evening, as we enter the month of Rajab and prepare to observe the Night of Raghaib, I wish that our prayers may be accepted.”

The event continued with the performance of selected works of Sufi music, performed jointly by artists and participants. Marked by deeply emotional moments, the concert concluded to enthusiastic applause from the audience.
