Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Emergency and Disaster Management Program organized a trip to Ümraniye Fire Department. During the trip, which was led by Emergency and Disaster Management Program Head Asst. Prof. Ayşe Yıldırım, the students had the opportunity to ask firefighters all the questions they wondered about the firefighting profession.

Emergency and Disaster Management students, who met with firefighters in Ümraniye, had the opportunity to learn about the working conditions of firefighters, the challenges they experience, their professional experience and internship.

Hose throwing and hose rolls were practiced
As part of the activity, students were shown the practice of throwing and hose rolls. After the hose throwing and rolls application, the students were also informed about the use of foam attached to fire extinguisher hoses.

Features of Nomex clothing explained
The features of the 'Nomex' clothes worn by firefighters were explained to the Emergency and Disaster Management students by Firefighter Serhat Zengin, and the vehicles, alarm systems and materials in the fire department were introduced to the students together with the 'Nomex' clothes. The technical trip was organized by Asst. Prof. Ayşe Yıldırım stated that they were lucky to receive training on site with their students. The trip to the fire department ended with a group photo shoot.
