A seminar titled “Student Participation in Higher Education Quality Assurance” was held for postgraduate students by Üsküdar University Institute of Health Sciences, with the participation of Gizem Şahin, President of the Quality Club and Member of the Higher Education Quality Council Student Commission. The seminar aimed to encourage postgraduate students’ participation in quality studies and provide information on quality processes.
What needs to be done in higher education institutions was explained
In the online seminar, what needs to be done in higher education institutions within the scope of quality assurance studies was explained. Emphasis was placed on setting goals for the establishment of an internal quality assurance system by higher education institutions, implementing practices towards these goals, and conducting monitoring and follow-up activities in line with these practices. It was stated that the first systematic work in the field of higher education quality assurance began with the Bologna process, which our country joined in 2001.

In the seminar held, postgraduate students were given information about the goals of the Bologna process, such as the diploma supplement application, which provides an easily understandable and comparable system for creating higher education diplomas and degrees, and the mutual recognition of qualifications and study periods gained abroad.

The seminar also focused on evaluation programs carried out by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK), which monitors universities' education-training, research activities, and administrative services in accordance with national and international quality standards. It was emphasized that in accredited programs, students' employment opportunities after graduation increase, and scholarship and financial support possibilities rise.
It was stated that students can be involved in topics such as the design and updating of postgraduate programs to disseminate the quality culture in quality processes, and that students' involvement in quality processes can develop their social and cultural awareness, improve their communication skills, and enhance the quality of education.
