The photos of President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan are being exploited by malicious individuals for advertising on social media. Using the name and photos of Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, these scammers are promoting medications to followers. Üsküdar University has initiated the necessary legal and judicial proceedings regarding the matter.

In certain advertisements circulating on social media, unauthorized photos of Prof. Nevzat Tarhan are being used to promote products. These ads, which should not be trusted, pose a threat to human health with misleading claims such as “three times more effective than antidepressants.” Prof. Nevzat Tarhan has no connection whatsoever to these products or advertisements.

Prof. Tarhan: “People call and believe them. They are defrauding the public.”

In a statement on the matter, Prof. Nevzat Tarhan said: "A company I have never heard of is trying to sell dietary supplements using my name and photograph. People call me, and some believe it. I am not aware of any evidence-based research proving that these kinds of products, marketed with phrases like ‘completely herbal,’ can treat mental health problems."

By making this statement, he emphasized the seriousness of the fraud and the danger it poses to public health.

Tarhan also warned: "If you have any mental health issues, always consult a qualified psychiatrist or psychologist. Do not determine your treatment based on advertisements you see on social media. Verifying information from multiple sources is extremely important to avoid being misled or exposed to false information."

Üsküdar University: “Legal and judicial proceedings have been initiated.”

As Üsküdar University, we warn the public to be cautious. We have initiated the necessary legal and judicial steps to combat this fraud and raise public awareness. We strongly advise anyone encountering similar situations to obtain information from reliable sources, remain alert to such fake content, and report these advertisements when they see them in order to prevent their spread.
