“Social Harmony and Life Education” Event Held for International Students

The “Social Harmony and Life Education” event, organized jointly by the International Student Relations Office, affiliated with the Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports of Üsküdar Üniversitesi, and the Directorate of Integration and Communication, affiliated with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, was successfully held. Assistant Migration Specialist for Istanbul Province, Talha Erbay, and Interpreter Nur Güloğlu participated as guests in the event, which was moderated by International Student Relations Specialist Victoria Altınkaya.

At the event, which attracted intense interest from international students, information was provided on processes such as Rights and Obligations, Information on Social Life, Education and Health Opportunities, Legal Issues, and Access to Livelihoods.

Talha Erbay: “It is important for us that you receive accurate information from the correct source.”

Drawing attention to the fact that international students are susceptible to all kinds of misinformation and misguidance, Assistant Migration Specialist Talha Erbay said: “We visit all universities and hold meetings with international students there. There are 55,000 foreign students in 60 universities in Istanbul. It is important for us that you receive accurate information from the correct source. Foreign students are prone to misinformation and misguidance in this regard. We are working and striving to ensure that you receive an uninterrupted education.”

“You need to come to the Directorate of Migration Management and declare your new address.”

Speaking about accessible communication resources to find solutions to questions regarding the address issue, which is a problem faced by international students, Erbay said: “Since you are currently a university student, one of the most important issues is the address. Your address has changed, or you have moved to a new address. This is an important matter. You need to come to the Directorate of Migration Management and declare your new address. Because during your stay here, if there is a change in your life or your status, you need to come to the Directorate of Migration Management and report it so that we can grant you certain rules or rights based on the updated information we have. We are talking about 55,000 foreigners from 200 different countries in Istanbul. You can also get more detailed information through certain websites and documents we have prepared. You can resolve your questions in any language using the Foreigner Communication Center, communication number 157. This call center is the address for correct information for you. It is also very important for you to know that you can get answers to your questions via the liveinturkiye.com website.”

The “Social Harmony and Life Education” event, the second of which is planned to be held in January 2023, concluded after the question-and-answer sessions.
