A 'Graduates' Meeting' event was organized in cooperation with the Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program and the Career Center Department. Üsküdar graduates who have worked in various sectors met online with students. They shared their professional experiences, as well as the opportunities and challenges they faced in the industry, providing information to those who wish to pursue a career in the field.

The event was moderated by SHMYO Assistant Director, Head of Electrical and Energy Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Feride Kulalı Özdek, Head of Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program Lecturer Dilek Aker, and Career Center Department Head Remziye Çopur.
The event was attended by Sude Nur Özkan and Ecem Gazanfer, who serve as Radiation Safety Officers within MOLTEK Sağlık Hizmetleri Üretim ve Pazarlama; Yuşa Gürsoy, Radiation Safety Technician at Monrol company; Mahmut Ekrem Yaşar, Category 1 Technician at Akkuyu Nükleer; Hüseyin Dinç, Chief Technician of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Kartal Education and Research Hospital; and Ramazan Örgen.
Working with radiation requires significant caution!
Sude Nur Özkan and Ecem Gazanfer, Radiation Safety Officers within MOLTEK Sağlık Hizmetleri Üretim ve Pazarlama, spoke to students about their experiences. Their presentations covered the importance of radiation safety practices in radioisotope centers and the responsibilities they fulfill. They provided information on accelerators used in radioisotope production, as well as procedures related to the shielding and transport of isotopes, emphasizing how much care and attention working with radiation requires.


The vital role of safety protocols was emphasized
Yuşa Gürsoy, a Radiation Safety Technician working at Monrol, a company serving in the field of radiopharmaceutical production, briefly talked about the company and shared his experiences during the recruitment process. He also emphasized the vital role of safety protocols in radioactive material production processes.

Technical knowledge, discipline, and safety awareness must go hand in hand
Mahmut Ekrem Yaşar, one of the first graduates of the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program, works as a Category 1 Technician at Akkuyu Nükleer, one of Turkey's largest nuclear energy projects. After briefly explaining his journey before this role, Yaşar discussed career opportunities at Akkuyu Nükleer and his own career path, advising students to strive for their goals and be persistent. He emphasized that technical knowledge, discipline, and safety awareness must be maintained together in the nuclear energy sector.

Practices ensuring patient safety were discussed
Hüseyin Dinç, Chief Technician of the Nuclear Medicine Department at Kartal Education and Research Hospital, who graduated from the Medical Imaging Techniques and Radiotherapy Programs, is also continuing his education in the Nuclear Technology and Radiation Safety Program. Dinç drew attention to the correct and safe use of radiation in clinical applications, explaining the practices that ensure patient safety and the use of hot cells.

Erasmus+ experience was also mentioned
Ramazan Örgen shared his Erasmus+ experience gained within the program, conveying the benefits of undertaking internships abroad in the field of nuclear technology and the impact of cultural interactions on professional development.
The event created a strong example of solidarity among alumni and provided an inspiring and guiding platform for current students.
Participants had the opportunity to gain valuable information about post-graduation career paths in addition to professional development.
