Full Accreditation Success at SHMYO…

A ceremony was held for Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO)'s “First and Emergency Aid Program” and “Medical Laboratory Techniques Program,” which were granted full accreditation by the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK). At the ceremony, faculty members and administrative staff who contributed to the accreditation process were thanked for their contributions. SHMYO Director Asst. Prof. Ömer Faruk Karasakal emphasized that full accreditation is an important indicator of educational quality, a continuous improvement approach, and a student-centered approach. Karasakal stated that for the first time in SHMYO's history, two programs applied to an accreditation body, expressing that this success is a source of pride for the vocational school. The ceremony also emphasized the importance of making quality assurance efforts a corporate culture.

The ceremony held at the Çarşı Campus Emir Nebi 1 Conference Hall was attended by the Director of the Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO) Asst. Prof. Ömer Faruk Karasakal, Deputy Directors Assoc. Prof. Feride Kulalı Özdek and Instructor Esad Sadık Demirtaş, SHMYO Secretary Makbule Dede, and faculty members.

Within the scope of the program, faculty members who took part in and contributed to the accreditation process were thanked. Additionally, in this context, the contributions of accreditation efforts to the vocational school's educational quality and future goals were also discussed.

A Proud Achievement for the Vocational School!

Speaking at the ceremony, SHMYO Director Asst. Prof. Ömer Faruk Karasakal stated that for the first time in the history of Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services, two programs applied to an accreditation body, expressing that the First and Emergency Aid Program and the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program achieving full accreditation is a proud success for the vocational school.

Accreditation is Not Just a Document…

Karasakal emphasized that accreditation is not merely a document or a title, but an important process that demonstrates the conformity of education and training activities to quality standards, a continuous improvement approach, and a student-centered education approach. He stated that full accreditation is an indicator that the programs have been successfully evaluated in terms of educational objectives, learning outcomes, teaching staff, physical infrastructure, practical opportunities, measurement and evaluation processes, and stakeholder participation.

Karasakal stated that this success is the result of strong teamwork and thanked the program chairs, faculty members, administrative staff, students, alumni, and external stakeholders who worked dedicatedly during the accreditation process. 

Quality Assurance Efforts Should Become Corporate Culture

Emphasizing the importance of quality assurance efforts becoming corporate culture, Karasakal said that this success would also be an important source of motivation for the accreditation processes of other programs. The ceremony also focused on the contributions that accreditation efforts would provide to students and alumni. It was stated that accredited programs increase national recognition, encourage continuous improvement of educational quality, and positively contribute to the professional competencies of graduates.

At the end of the program, certificates of appreciation were presented to the Head of the First and Emergency Aid Program, Instructor Ayşe Bağlı, Instructor Ayfer Kaya, Instructor Keziban Turan, and the Head of the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, Asst. Prof. Ömer Faruk Karasakal, Instructor Eyser Kılıç, Instructor Osman Özşahin, and Instructor Tuğçe Soylamış for their contributions to the accreditation process. 

Additionally, certificates of appreciation were given to the Head of the SHMYO Quality Commission of that period, Asst. Prof. Öznur Karaoğluna, and commission members Asst. Prof. Burcu Dündar Ertem, Instructor Duygu Deniz Şentürk, Instructor Emine Akgün, Instructor Nelis Bosnalı, and Instructor Tuğçe Yılmaz Karana for their valuable contributions to the accreditation process. 

The SHMYO management was also honored with a certificate of appreciation for their leadership and support throughout the process.

Quality-Oriented Efforts Will Continue…

While sharing the happiness of the achieved success, participants emphasized that the vocational school would resolutely continue its quality-oriented efforts. The ceremony concluded after a cake cutting and group photo session.
