Shared 21 Years of Experience with Students…

An event titled ‘Obstetric Emergencies’ was held by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vocational School of Health Services. Paramedic Fidan Kurt attended the event as a guest. Kurt shared important professional experiences and insights about the profession with the students, stating, “If a person feels safe when they touch your hands, you can do this job.”

The event, moderated by Lecturer Ayşe Bağlı, Head of the First and Emergency Aid Program at Üsküdar Üniversitesi SHMYO, took place at the Emir Nebi conference hall in the Çarşı Campus.

“My reason for being involved in associations is to help the profession reach a better place”

Paramedic Fidan Kurt, speaking about her work experience and efforts to help the profession reach a better place, said: “I have been working at 112 for approximately 21 years. I will retire in 4 years. Many students I graduated this year, last year, and in previous years are now my colleagues. We work together. I wish the same for you. And I say, may the worthy win. I am also a Ministry of Health instructor at 112. When you are appointed, I am the instructor for 5 basic modules. I have been instructing at 112 for 8 years. I am also an occupational safety specialist. I have a Master’s degree. I was involved in associations for 12 years. There's a high probability you'll encounter me at any hospital or private ambulance you go to. I am an instructor who pushes the limits a bit. I have dedicated years to this profession, and my reason for being involved in associations is for this profession to reach a better place.”

“If a person feels safe when they touch your hands, you can do this job”

Fidan Kurt emphasized that people without certain skills should not become paramedics. Kurt said: “Paramedicine is the only profession where you study at a university, earn such a salary, get appointed easily, and have ten times the authority of others. When you go to the field, people directly put their trust in you. You don't have a doctor above you. You don't have an instructor above you. You will make that decision yourself, and if you ask me, if you don't have this ability, please don't do this job. If you just want to be a university graduate, be one, but don't do this job. If you don't have this ability, if you can't manage a patient, if you won't act like a parent in a place you go, if there's no compassion, if you get nauseous when you see blood, if you say 'I can't touch this,' then I'm telling you now, don't do this job. As a paramedic, you are the one who goes directly to the scene, you are the one who directly intervenes at the scene. If a person feels safe when they look into your eyes and touch your hands, then you can do this job. If you say you won't do this job, then don't. Nobody will judge you.”

Fidan Kurt's lecture, providing information about ‘Obstetric Emergencies,’ attracted significant interest.

The event concluded after a group photo session.
