Second term of Target Friendship Project trainings completed

The second term trainings of the Target Friendship Mentoring Program, part of Üsküdar University's Scientific Research Project (BAP), which aims to bring international and Turkish students together through cooperation, activities, and education to enhance their social harmony with common goals, have been completed.  

 

Values education and positive psychology were covered

The first week of the training calendar began with “Values Education” by Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özdemir, who is a visiting faculty member in America. The training, which explained the benefits of students knowing and discovering their own values, as well as being aware of others' values and guiding their behavior accordingly, was conducted online. 

Expert Psychologist E. Akıncı presented topics that lead to meaningful goals and actions such as positive emotions, being in flow during an activity, managing and developing social relationships, and being satisfied with oneself and one's life, through the “Positive Psychology” training. 

 

Creative drama and mentoring training were provided

The trainings in the second week of the program took place at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Çarşı Campus, Emir Nebi 1 conference hall. 

The “Creative Drama” training, aiming to equip students with the skills to be active and participatory, use body language correctly, and express their thoughts confidently in front of an audience, was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Volkan Demir using enjoyable art therapy and animation techniques. 

 

The “Mentoring” training, aiming for leader and mentor students to effectively transfer their experiences and knowledge to the new students (mentees) they are responsible for, was practically delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Nebiye Yaşar, Manager of the Young Brains Academy. 

 

'Target Friendship' philosophy, ethics, and communication topics were conveyed

The last week of the trainings began with the “Target Friendship & Ethics & Communication” training delivered by Lecturer Dr. Gülcan Ayral, International Student Relations Manager of the Health, Culture and Sports (SKS) Department and Coordinator of the BAP Target Friendship Project. In the lecture, which opened with the philosophy of the Target Friendship project, it was conveyed that the strong friendships targeted among students should be established through effective communication, and actions and decisions based on a good, correct, and ethical foundation.

 

The practical applications of the communication part of the training were presented by Ayça Aracıçam, International Student Relations Assistant and a graduate of the Faculty of Communication. 

 

Activities and socialization were discussed

The “Activities and Socialization” training, which explained the benefits of event organizations in academic and professional development and concluded the program with an enjoyable game, was delivered by M. Merve Günaltay, Events Specialist of the Health, Culture and Sports (SKS) Department.

 

Trainings completed in an enjoyable and interactive manner

The organization of the successful, enjoyable, and interactive trainings was carried out in cooperation with Selda Yener, SKS International Student Relations Specialist, Bengisu Altınten, Üsküdar Continuous Education Center (ÜSEM) Manager, and Specialist Yüsra Katılmaz. 

Leaders of the Target Friendship Team (TFTeam), International Student Support Team (ISSTeam), mentors, and mentor candidates participated in the trainings. 

Participants will be given certificates of attendance for these trainings, which will benefit them in university, their future careers, and social lives.
