An event titled “Our Scientists Who Witnessed the Founding Period of the Republic of Turkey and Contributed to the Construction and Development of Our State” was held by the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. The event, organized under the leadership of Dr. Betül Gürünlü, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, discussed the areas in which scientists involved in the construction of the Republic of Turkey contributed to the newly established state after the War of Independence.
Prof. Dr. Osman Çerezci, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, attended the event held in the Nermin Tarhan Conference Hall, and the event garnered significant interest.
Dr. Betül Gürünlü, Assistant Dean of the Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, who discussed the areas in which scientists involved in the construction of the Republic of Turkey contributed to the newly established state after the War of Independence, highlighted the significant, groundbreaking work and advancements made by these scientists upon their return to their homeland, having received education abroad with limited resources and state support during that period.
During the presentation, scientists who witnessed the founding period of the Republic of Turkey and contributed to the construction and development of our state, such as Ziya Nuri Birgi, İbrahim Refik Saydam, İbrahim Etem Ulagay, Celal Muhtar Özden, Hulusi Behçet, Akil Muhtar Özden, Mazhar Osman Usman, Mehmet Refik Fenmen, Kerim Erim, Naciye Safiye Ali, Fatin Gökmen, Cemil Topuzlu, Tevfik Sağlam, Server Kamil, Hamit Pamir, Nazım Terzioğlu, Sara Akdik, Nusret Karasu, Nuri Demirağ, Perihan Çambel, Remziye Hisar, Feza Gürsey, Asım Orhan Barut, İhsan Ketin, Cahit Arf, Hüseyin Cavid Erginsoy, Behram Kurşunoğlu, Nüzhet Gökdoğan, Erdal İnönü, Bahattin Baysal, Gazi Mahmut Yaşargil, Dilhan Eryurt, Oktay Sinanoğlu, Afet İnan, and Halil İnalcık, were discussed.
