The work titled “Safety of Healthcare Workers” has been published by Nobel Tıp Kitabevi Yayınları with the support of Üsküdar Üniversitesi. Many faculty members, especially Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, contributed to the work.
It is predicted that the work, to which more than thirty academics who are experts in their field contributed, will close a significant gap in the textbook area.
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan contributed with a book chapter, while Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of Public Health and Head of the Department of Health Management at the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur was among the authors and editors.
Additionally, Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Department Dr. Lecturer Rüştü Uçan and Occupational Health and Safety Department Lecturer Ali Orhan Karacığan, along with Head of the Family Medicine Department at the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Lecturer Ayhan Özşahin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay from the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Üsküdar Üniversitesi Career Center Assistant Manager Doctoral Candidate Gülçin Eren are among the names who contributed to the book with the chapters they authored.
The work focuses on the health of healthcare workers
The editors of the book “Safety of Healthcare Workers” were Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuncay Palteki, and Dr. Lecturer Gülay Yazıcı. The work presents the type and extent of risks carried by healthcare services and expresses methods of protection from these risks. In the work, which can also be taught as a textbook, it is stated that healthcare workers are exposed to many biological, chemical, ergonomic, physical, psychological, and social hazards in their work life.
In the work, to which more than thirty authors contributed by writing book chapters, it is stated that the healthcare service environment can turn into a mechanism that destroys the “personal health” of healthcare workers.
