‘The Meaning of Existence’, ‘The Search for Meaning’ and similar topics will be examined with scientific methodology in the “RİNAP 5D Summer School Seminar,” which has now started. Organized in cooperation with Üsküdar Üniversitesi Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP) and the Institute of Integrated Knowledge, the seminar will thoroughly address the issues of existence and meaning.
On the first day of the seminar, held in the Central Campus Senate Hall, the opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki, President of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Institute of Sufi Studies and Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP); Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç, Board Member of Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP); and Prof. Dr. Necati Aydın, Advisory Board Member of Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP).
The summer school program was attended by Sadık Paksoy, Vice President of Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP); Selahattin Arslan, Vice President of Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP); Prof. Dr. İlham Miraç, Board Member of Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP); Seyda Ünlükul, Secretary of Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP); and 16 students from various countries.
Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki: “We Will Share Our Knowledge of Existence and Meaning”
Prof. Dr. Niyazi Beki, President of the Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP), expressed great pleasure in hosting the students of the Institute of Integrated Knowledge, stating: “We are very pleased to host you here. We will have a pleasant time at the summer school and together we will share our knowledge of existence and meaning."
Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç: “We are in Search of Meaning from the Moment We Are Born”
Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç, Board Member of the Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP), emphasized that the search for meaning is always in a corner of our minds: “Actually, we are in search of meaning from the moment we are born. We may not express this very openly and intentionally, but this search exists in a corner of our minds. When a small child asks 'what is this?', the question is actually about searching for the meaning of that thing, but of course, initially, this search for meaning is more about, you know, the life where we try to sustain our existence. This is not an inquiry that goes beyond that meaning. What we are actually after is a meaning that gives us peace and satisfaction not only in this life but also in the life to come. We always keep this in the back of our minds. This seminar was truly organized to search for meaning. What is the meaning we are truly looking for? How can we find it, and where can we find it, and how can we express it? All these questions are the purpose of this seminar.”
Prof. Dr. Necati Aydın: “We Want This to Be an Intellectual Awakening Movement Among Muslims”
Prof. Dr. Necati Aydın, Advisory Board Member of the Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP), expressed his desire for the seminars to spread throughout the Muslim world: “We truly appreciate your presence here, and we hope you gain maximum benefit from the seminars. We can spread these seminars and enable more people to participate. We want this to somehow be a movement for intellectual awakening among Muslim scholars, Muslim researchers, and scientists.”
Summer School to Continue for Five Days
Students from the Institute of Integrated Knowledge will participate in the summer school, where the topics of existence and meaning will be discussed for five days, both in the meeting hall of Üsküdar Üniversitesi South Campus Risale-i Nur Research Platform (RİNAP) and online.
