The 'Project Writing Training' event organized by Üsküdar University ARGEYEP Directorate was held. The speakers of the program, held via Zoom, were ARGEYEP Director Meltem Bayraktar and Faculty Member of Occupational Health and Safety Department, Assoc. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay. The speakers provided detailed information to the participants about project preparation training.
“Organizing symposiums, conferences is not R&D.”
Meltem Bayraktar, Director of Üsküdar University ARGEYEP, spoke about the TÜBİTAK ARDEP structure, project types, and ARGEYEP support in project preparation processes. Bayraktar stated; “There are 5 basic criteria for an activity to be evaluated as R&D. New findings should be targeted, it should be based on original concepts and hypotheses, there should be uncertainty about the final results, it should be planned and budgeted, and the results should be transferable and reproducible. R&D is not interpretations made on the possible economic effects of changes in the tax structure by utilizing existing economic data. Organizing symposiums and conferences is not R&D.”
“Literature should not be presented as a raw list”
Assoc. Dr. Müge Ensari Özay, a faculty member in the Occupational Health and Safety department, addressed R&D project components, the importance of the topic, the unique values of the project, the research question or hypothesis, and the project management structure in her speech. Özay stated, “Project summary, aims and objectives, unique value, method, widespread impact, subject, scope, and literature are among the components of an R&D Project. The importance of the project topic, its unique value, the data and methods used, its widespread impact, and its management should be outlined. The summary is written last. Keywords are words that give readers a significant idea about the project content and its subject. It is recommended that keywords do not appear in the title. The aim of the proposed project and the main results to be achieved should be written clearly and precisely. Care should be taken to ensure that the project objectives are consistent with the aims and priorities of the program applied for.” Literature should not be presented as a raw list. Özay also mentioned success criteria and risk management.
