Prof. Nevzat Tarhan Appointed as SEDEF Federation President

The Silent Values Federation (SEDEF), which brings together associations working on a rights-based approach in education, aid, and social service areas for children and youth in need of protection, determined the distribution of duties at its first Board of Directors meeting. President of Üsküdar University, Psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, was unanimously elected as the federation president. At the Board of Directors Meeting, the development of joint projects with public institutions and other Civil Society Organizations was also discussed.

The Silent Values Federation (SEDEF) Board of Directors held its first meeting after the 1st Ordinary General Assembly. In the council, convened under the chairmanship of Üsküdar University Rector's Advisor Prof. İsmail Barış, representatives of member associations determined the federation's new period roadmap.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan Elected as President

In accordance with the decision taken at the Ordinary General Assembly, the distribution of duties for the 17 principal members of the Board of Directors was unanimously approved. Accordingly, President of Üsküdar University Prof. Nevzat Tarhan was appointed as the federation president.

Üsküdar University Rector's Advisor Prof. İsmail Barış was elected as vice president responsible for General Administrative Affairs, Mustafa Uzun for Health and Well-being, Mine Yeter for Education and Culture, Nadire Özcan for Social Affairs, İsmail İşler for R&D, and Havva Gürak for Press and Promotion. İlknur Önem was appointed as Treasurer, Ayşe Banu Güngenci as Secretary General, and Gürcan Onat as Associations Coordinator.

Edibe Serra Erol was assigned as Deputy Secretary General and a member responsible for Health and Well-being, Fatma Turan for Health and Well-being, Hazal Pural for R&D, Ercan Erinç for Press and Promotion, Hacer Üstündağ for Social Affairs, Yahya Altunkaynak for Education and Culture, and İsmail Metin Sobay as a member responsible for Administrative Affairs.

Joint Projects with Ministries on the Agenda

In the wishes and aspirations section of the meeting, the preparation of projects for public institutions and organizations, especially the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Health, under the umbrella of the federation, was discussed. 

Authorizations Made for Corporate Structuring

Decisions were also made regarding representation and signing authorities for the federation's corporate operations, the opening of bank accounts, and the selection of a financial advisor. 

It was decided that the Board of Directors would meet regularly on the last Wednesday of every month from now on. The meeting concluded with the closing speech by Prof. İsmail Barış.
