He conducted the first brain mapping studies in Turkey…

In the book, it is emphasized that Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan chose psychiatry not only to have a good profession but also to be able to touch people’s hearts; “Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan is not just a scientist, but also a soldier who fought for the good of society and Turkey’s democratic life, dedicating his life to this cause. He chose the psychiatry branch not only to have a good profession but also to be able to touch people’s hearts. He thought it was the most social field of medicine and closer to human values, and despite interning in the ear, nose, and throat field, he continued his professional life with psychiatry, the branch closest to his heart. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Songar, the founder of the psychiatry department at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and one of the prominent names of that era, also influenced this decision. Although psychoanalysis was popular in those years, he was more interested in biochemistry and brain electrophysiology. He carried out the first brain mapping studies in Turkey,” were the statements used.

You have everything a university should have.’ Nevzat Hodja thought, ‘Since I have dedicated myself to this, I need to establish a university.’ Nevzat Hodja believed that health and education should be combined.
