Prof. Dr. Süleymanlı participated online in the international workshop titled “New Uzbekistan: A Sociological Approach to Uzbekistan’s Social Processes”, held in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan, within the scope of the 25th Anniversary of the “Ictimai Fikir” Public Opinion Research Center.
Süleymanlı made a presentation titled “The Role of Sociology and Sociologists in Ensuring Cultural Unity Among Turkic Communities” at the workshop and made evaluations regarding the developments taking place in the Turkic world.
Süleymanlı: “It is the duty of sociologists to bring to light the ties between the countries forming the Turkic world”
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı underlined that the post-1990 restructuring in the Turkic world can be forward-looking only if it is closely related to economic, technical, political, and cultural ties. For this reason, he stated that, in addition to the flow of information and technology among the countries representing the Turkic world, restructuring their historical and cultural commonalities is the strongest bond and driving force. Süleymanlı said; “With this thought, bringing to light the historical and cultural ties among the countries that constitute the Turkic world and keeping them on the agenda in interstate relations has become an inevitable task for sociologists. Another important reason that makes this necessary is that in the cultural war prevalent in our age, the Turkic world has become one of the important targets. Sociologists should prepare their sociological database and work as an institution. In a general sense, they should present these studies in regular meetings.” he said.
