Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vice-Rector, United Nations (UN) International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) Member for the 2005-2010 and 2015-2022 terms, and former President Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy, has been elected as a member for the INCB's 2022-2027 term for the third time. Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy received more votes than China and Russia.

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Vice-Rector, United Nations (UN) International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) Member for the 2005-2010 and 2015-2022 terms, and former President Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy, had once again been a candidate for the INCB's 2022-2027 term. Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy was re-nominated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2022-2027 term with the approval of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy was elected as a member of the INCB for the 2022-2027 term for the third time in the ECOSOC elections held in New York on April 20. Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy received more votes than China and Russia. Accordingly, the USA received 36 votes, Turkey 35, Madagascar 33, China 30, and Russia 28.
The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), established by the 1961 convention, is tasked with monitoring the implementation of conventions, identifying shortcomings, making recommendations, and imposing sanctions when necessary. The 13 members of the Board are impartial individuals elected for a 5-year term by 56 countries that are members of the Economic and Social Council, and they do not represent their countries.
