Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan was a live guest on the 'Arafta Sorular' (Questions in Limbo) program hosted by Esra Elönü and broadcast on 24TV. Tarhan, who made evaluations on prominent topics such as “family, gender neutralization, neglect, abuse, and violence in children...”, stated that remaining silent in the face of evil means being complicit in evil. Addressing the issue of gender neutralization in a scientific context, Tarhan said that the incidence of psychiatric disorders is 20 times higher, and the suicide rate is 2 times higher in individuals who undergo gender change.

“The US is the society that pollutes the world the most”
Answering Esra Elönü’s questions during the live broadcast he attended, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan pointed out that there is currently a global narcissism epidemic. Tarhan said; “There is currently a global narcissism epidemic, but modernism supports it. Modernism, the capitalist system, supports this. Because global competition is supported, selfishness is encouraged under the guise of individualism. In such situations, individuals who think of their own interests are glorified. The roots of this go back to the Age of Enlightenment, to Nietzsche. The concept of ‘the market has no morals’ emerges from here. The culture of charity, mutual aid, being humble – these are the affairs of primitive tribes. They devalued these behaviors in this culture, saying that they increase operating costs and negatively affect capitalism. Europe, in particular, curbed this under the influence of Russian socialism, but in America, a wild capitalism continues with all its intensity. Currently, one American consumes as much as five global citizens. America is the society that pollutes the world the most. For this reason, global narcissism lies behind this.”
“Remaining silent in the face of evil is being complicit in evil”
Underlining that there is serious decay in society, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan emphasized that moral collapse lies behind this situation. Tarhan said; “Remaining silent in the face of evil is being complicit in evil. It is even encouraging evil. People who say ‘it was evil’ after the evil has passed turn out to be more honest. But those who remain silent in the face of evil, those who can fight evil, who know evil as evil but do not fight it for self-interest, or those who do not fight it due to heedlessness, remain under a much greater responsibility and burden of guilt. Currently, there is serious decay in society. Behind this lies moral collapse. This began in 1580. This collapse gradually started during the periods when the Ottoman Empire was at its strongest. During those times, the Ottomans created a false sense of self-confidence. Under the influence of that self-confidence, there was much deviation from reality and truths, but the Ottoman Empire protected itself because it established its own system. Especially in the last two hundred years, as the Ottoman Empire became impoverished, and faced economic decline, it had to become authoritarian in parallel to keep the system afloat. When it had to become authoritarian, it moved away from justice. Rights and oppressions increased. Illegalities, corruptions, and poverty increased. As a result, if there is oppression, intimidation, threat in a place, and fear has replaced trust, if fear is the rule and trust is the exception, when this increases in society, collapse emerges.”
“Justice creates a sense of trust like an invisible bond”
Tarhan, pointing out that there is peace and trust where there is justice; “When the balance of justice in society is disturbed, justice creates a sense of trust like an invisible bond. In this society, for example, what happens in a family when trust weakens? People come home fearfully. Children run away when the father comes. For example, if the father creates an atmosphere of terror at home, because if a child has the conviction that something unlawful will happen, that injustice will be done, and that their other sibling will be discriminated against when they come home, they want to escape from home at the first opportunity. A family is a miniaturized society, and society is like an enlarged family. In both, the dynamic balance of opposites is valid. In such situations, the balance of good and evil, right and wrong, secure and insecure, useful and useless, this balance is valid in the family. That is, if there is justice in the sharing of rights and opportunities within the family, there is peace. Trust is formed. Because there is peace in a secure place. But if that sharing, which we call the doctrine of equity in the sharing of rights and opportunities, is not fair, people there become victims, they feel bad about themselves.”
“The family was first targeted as a global project in the 1960s”
Underlining that the family is currently seriously targeted, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan said; “When we disregard a child, the biggest trauma is emotional neglect. That is, you give something to others, but not to them. This disregard has a more traumatic effect than beating. For example, one of the siblings has asthma or another illness. Everyone cares for them because they are sick. The healthy ones are neglected. I know people who didn't call their mother ‘mother,’ but ‘this woman,’ and they wanted a DNA analysis test. They believed they were stepchildren. It had turned into a delusion, and unfortunately, we see many examples of this frequently. Mothers and fathers make this mistake with good intentions and traumatize their children. Many psychiatric problems emerge this way in the future. And their treatment later becomes quite difficult. For the family to be a safe space within the family, love is not enough... Love is beautiful, if there is love + secure attachment, there is peace. For secure attachment to exist, the sharing of rights and opportunities must definitely be fair. The sharing of roles must be fair. The family is currently seriously targeted. The family was first targeted as a global project in the 1960s. The plan of global capital in the 1960s was family planning. The extensions of global capital in Turkey did this under the name of a social responsibility project. They have currently reduced our population.”

Tarhan, also drawing attention to the importance of the “Great Family Gathering and Silent March” organization held in Saraçhane Square with the slogan “Stop This Shameless Onslaught,” said that the women’s liberation movement turned into gender wars. Tarhan; “Patriarchal culture continued by becoming authoritarian in some way to protect society. There was a period when women were neglected. Against this, feminist movements started in the East and West. Liberation movements. These reflections also appeared in Turkey in the 60s. However, feminism deviated from its starting point. It transformed the women’s liberation movement into gender wars. This time, in the 1970s, anti-family movements entered a new phase. Open marriage policies began. Open classrooms in schools, open marriage in marriage, open marriage in family life. Both sides have lovers. They saw this as modernization. Later, children pay the price for this. The world population is increasing very rapidly. This means that global capital wants the dissolution of the family to stop the increase in world population. In a way, it wants there to be no children. Because it wants no children, one of the ways to achieve this in such situations is gender neutrality, something that will reduce marriage. The spread of the mindset, ‘What’s the need for marriage?’ Since gay and lesbian marriages could exist between men and men or women and women, they were encouraged in some US states and the Netherlands.”
“Suicide risk is 2 times higher in individuals who undergo gender change”
Emphasizing that scientific rigor should be followed regarding gender neutrality, Tarhan said; “The global gangs supporting those committing genocide in Gaza and the gangs supporting LGBTQ are the same. This is a very important thing. Here, our guide is science. We need to proceed with scientific rigor. When we proceeded with scientific rigor, we saw that that study was published in Nature journal in 2019, titled ‘No Gay Gen.’ In the sense that there is no gay gene. Now, after this study and as some negative consequences began to appear, England is currently closing all gender reassignment centers. It’s actually gender nullification. No change occurs. A man does not become a woman, and a woman does not become a man. That is the medical truth. The suicide rate is very high. For example, it is 2 times higher in individuals who undergo gender change. And their average lifespan has shortened. The average lifespan has increased generally, but these individuals die early. And psychiatric illnesses are 20 times more common. So, what does this show us? It shows us that these situations are contrary to human biological nature.”
“Our homeland has not been occupied, but our minds have been occupied”
Tarhan, drawing attention to the current occupation of minds by media and social media, also pointed to what happened at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Tarhan said; “When the Olympics take place in 2024, there will be LGBT propaganda, gender neutrality propaganda in the opening ceremony. There were bearded women, men in skirts. There were naked people painted in various colors. So, what is this? A significant fund was given to the Olympic committee, and they placed this in the ceremony. The choice of Paris is also meaningful. It is where the French Revolution began. They said, ‘We are determined in this matter. We will make a revolution concerning this in the world. We will make a cultural revolution in the world.’ That is the place to declare it. Our minds have been occupied. Our homeland has not been occupied, but our minds have been occupied. How have they been occupied? In France, Franco applied the 3F rule to depoliticize young people: Football, film, festival. They wanted young people to pursue desires instead of pursuing meaning. So that they wouldn’t question me, wouldn’t question the administration... He wanted to make people stupid, to hypnotize them. For this, he invested in football, film, and festivals. Here, using media, social media, we are currently being enchanted. We are being hypnotized.”
We can only protect ourselves if we are subjects, not objects…
Tarhan, stating that individuals who know their responsibility protect their boundaries against threats; “True freedom is to be free from our desires and impulses. Today, we see as freedom the system that multiplies greedy, insatiable, pleasure-seeking, self-interested, arrogant people, and excessively encourages carnal desires in our beliefs and cultures. The truly free are those who can control these. That is, we have a wild horse within us. The one who tames it is free. Otherwise, a person who rides a wild horse in the forest and gets lost in the forest is not free. They are irresponsible. That is, for this reason, they are a person who is used on the path of life. In such situations, against gender neutrality propaganda, we can only protect ourselves if we are subjects, not objects. If we become subjects of social media, we are protected. That is, we are objects of social media. Social media is currently using us. Here, we need to know our own responsibility. Someone who knows their responsibility protects their boundaries against this threat. We need to raise children who are at peace with their gender.”
