Üsküdar University Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, said, “Humanitarian and universal values were suddenly ignored in the Gaza events.”

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan gave a seminar in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on "Social and psychological problems in modern era families and ways to solve them".
The seminar, hosted by the Kazakhstan Institute for Social Development, operating under the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, was attended by university students as well as local experts.
Prof. Dr. Tarhan first made a presentation on statistics regarding global family problems and the preservation of family structure in the current era.
Tarhan, stating that they are ready to share their experiences and expertise in this field with Kazakh experts, said, "The institution of family is crucial not only for preserving our own culture but also for the future of humanity."
Tarhan expressed that he observed a commendable effort in Kazakhstan to turn the negative global trend concerning the institution of family into a positive direction, stating, "I am here to share my professional experiences on this matter."
Speaking to an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter after the seminar, Tarhan announced that he would also give a speech on "the psychology of values" at Eurasia National University in Astana tomorrow.
Tarhan drew attention to the importance of this issue in a world where human values are rapidly declining, stating, "Humanitarian and universal values were suddenly ignored in the Gaza events."
Tarhan pointed out that humanitarian and universal values are not genetic but are actually learned values, stating, "The double standards regarding the killing of so many civilians in war show that the issue of values is globally hypocritical, and that the values in politics do not align with the values at the top of society. But the global conscience does not accept the erosion of these humanitarian values. Therefore, I believe these events are the birth pangs of something significant."
At the end of the seminar, a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation was signed between the Kazakhstan Institute for Social Development and Üsküdar University.
