Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, participated as a speaker in an in-house advanced training seminar for Imams and Religious Officials, organized by the Islamic Community in Austria (IGGU). At the online event, Tarhan made evaluations under the title 'Sexual Orientations in Today's World'.

"A Western-based project was launched focusing on women"
Tarhan stated that he made evaluations on gender equality ideas in the West within the context of an Islamic perspective and Anatolian culture in his work 'Women's Psychology,' and drew attention to a project being launched focusing on women. Tarhan said; "I realized in 2003 that it was a sexual, gender equality ideology. In 2003, a woman served as an imam in a mosque in New York. Right after 9/11, plans for Afghanistan were being made, and meanwhile, in a mosque in New York, a woman imam emerged and led the congregation in prayer. This was entirely unusual, and the news was circulated worldwide. Upon this, I said, 'There is a project focusing on women. In other words, an operation targeting women is being planned for the Islamic world, and this is a precursor.' I wrote the book 'Women's Psychology' with religious evidence regarding our belief system and culture concerning male-female gender differences, psychological differences, biological differences, the different natures of men, and the different biological and psychological nature. I asked recently, since then, it has had almost 100 editions and quite a lot of sales. I asked the publisher where it was being used, and they replied that the Directorate of Religious Affairs' Family Guidance offices highly recommend it. I then said, 'We have reached our goal.' Because currently, there is a gender equality ideology, a global ideology, and global capital is behind it."
"Female and male brains work differently"
"I had been to San Francisco for a meeting before COVID. It was a brain mapping conference. At that meeting, I said there's homophobia in Turkey, and there's a lot of discourse about it. There's a hatred of homosexuality, seeing homosexuality as an enemy... This isn't healthy either, I asked how they approach homophobia here. They said, 'What homophobia? There's heterophobia here.' That was the first time I heard 'heterophobia'. Heterophobia is opposing marriage, hating marriage. From this point, what did we do? For example, female and male brains work differently. The left brain is biologically associated with logic, reasoning, analysis, and speech, while the right brain is associated with emotions, excitement, music, and art – this is proven information. When I first presented this in the early 2000s, I was invited to a meeting on love at Cerrahpaşa. I gave this presentation, and an obstetrician objected, saying, 'Oh, that's absurd, such a thing can't be true.' A doctor, a medical professional at Cerrahpaşa, said this. I smiled and said, 'Sir, I speak based on evidence.' I said, 'If you look closely at the literature, you'll see.' Later, the evidence significantly increased. The left brain is logic, the right brain, the male brain, the female brain, but as male and female grow, there is the frontal lobe, the prefrontal cortex. Without the frontal lobe, there would be no civilization. While logic is prominent in men, emotion is prominent in women, and the prefrontal cortex balances the two. It provides a balance between logic and emotion. If logic is very high and emotion is suppressed, a person, for example, becomes obsessive, suppressing and crushing their emotions. If the right brain is overactive and the left, logical brain is not working, a person enters a manic state, falling in love with anyone they encounter, anyone who shows interest. These are situations related to brain chemistry. Ultimately, these are brain activities; female and male brains work differently, and I wanted to emphasize this," he said.
"There is an idea to lower the age of sexual freedom"
Tarhan stated that a legislative proposal was submitted in the Netherlands to lower the age of sexual freedom to 12; "In the West, they are in a way encouraging sexual pedophilia. Look, they have ideas like lowering the age of sexual freedom to 12. There were even those who said it should be lowered to 9 years old. So, imagine, this is the age of sexual freedom. This is another aspect of the matter. In other words, there is an irresponsible, unlimited promotion of freedom. You know there are samurai in Japan, complete warriors with samurai swords. Completely masculine male types. But interestingly, they had a culture where they only engaged in same-sex relations among themselves. They only went to their wives when they wanted to have children. This is sexual orientation. A person is male both as a biological sex and as a gender identity. But as a sexual orientation, they satisfy their sexual needs with their own gender. This is homosexuality, but this sexual orientation is what the American Psychiatric Association stated is outside the scope of psychiatry, and it is indeed outside the scope of psychiatry; it is a social issue, a social phenomenon," he stated.
"According to science, there is no third gender identity"
Tarhan stated that there is no scientific or genetic basis for a third gender identity; "According to science, there is no third gender identity, period. Homosexuality and transsexuality must be absolutely separated because a person can be transsexual, but if they do not advocate it as an ideology and prefer it, one must respect them; however, if they advocate it as an ideology and as truth, it is a duty to voice opposing views. There is no scientific evidence, no genetic basis for a third gender identity," he said.
