ASDER members gathered at the traditional iftar dinner

The traditional iftar dinner held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi NP Sağlık Yerleşkesi took place under the chairmanship of ASDER Board Chairman Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan. Tarhan delivered the opening speech at the highly attended iftar dinner, offering advice on how to approach the concept of justice.

“The need for justice never ends”

Starting his speech by emphasizing that justice begins in the family and that the need for justice will never end, Tarhan said; “As the Association of Defenders of Justice, we are together at the iftar we hold every year. Hopefully, it will lead to beneficial things. In the 2000s, when we founded the Association of Defenders of Justice, we were going through such difficult times that we couldn't even utter the word 'justice'. To be able to establish such an association in such a situation… Many activities carried out during that period bore fruit later, but despite this, the need for justice never ends. There is a good part and a bad part within a person. Whichever part we support, that part develops. Trials in life do not end, they change form and continue. That bad part within us, which is the nafs, is always prone to making us do wrong things by collaborating with Shaytan. That is why the Messenger of Allah says: ‘Do not leave me alone with my nafs even for the blink of an eye!’”

“Justice-oriented systems yield results in the medium and long term”

Highlighting the need for the concept of justice in every field, Tarhan said; “So much so that justice begins in the family. Justice begins with being fair to ourselves and to others. When asked, ‘What is the measure of whether a person is in a just environment?’, it is said to be sure that no one other than the doorman will knock on their door at night, to be sure that nothing out of the ordinary will happen if they end up at the police station, and finally, to be sure that nothing unlawful will be done if their case goes to court. If such an environment exists, there is peace, trust, and harmony among people. This is an ideal that will never end. Many systems yield short-term results, but justice-oriented systems yield results in the medium and long term. As the Association of Defenders of Justice, we have always advocated for this. On this path, we continue to demonstrate our sensitivity and the importance we attach to the concept of justice. On this occasion, when we recall the old days, some have said, ‘The Association of Defenders of Justice has completed its duty,’ but it is clear that the continuation of this concept is needed in every field. Law is necessary for everyone and for all of us.” He concluded his words.

The organized iftar program garnered significant interest from association members and their families.

The highly attended iftar program concluded with a commemorative photo session following the signing ceremony.
