The 10th Ordinary General Assembly of the Association of Defenders of Justice (ASDER) was held hosted by Üsküdar Üniversitesi. Speaking at the general assembly, Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan pointed out that defending justice where there is injustice is not easy. Emphasizing the importance of individuals being able to establish justice within their own inner world, Tarhan underlined that if young people are not given fair examples, they will be lost.

Members of the board of directors attended the assembly held at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Çarşı Campus, Emirnebi-1 hall.

The opening speech of the assembly was delivered by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan.

“Global imperialism has targeted youth”

Tarhan spoke about a type of person who wants to win in life without effort or toil; “Currently, global imperialism has targeted youth. There is a humanity that watches things as if watching a cartoon. Not just young people, but such a humanity exists. There is a type of person who wants to win in life without effort, without getting tired. A type of person who doesn't care much about the past, with a perspective as if everyone should serve them, has multiplied.”

Will take part in more social responsibility projects…

Tarhan stated that the type of person for whom selfishness has become widespread and a lifestyle is increasing day by day, “Due to the trivialization and proliferation of evil and the targeting of youth, I want to dedicate my efforts and focus to this area with social responsibility. We need to understand injustice. If we are not fair role models for young people, we will lose them,” he said.

“Taking risks for justice is necessary”

Tarhan pointed out that defending justice where there is injustice is not easy; “We need to understand injustice. If we cannot understand those injustices, we will forget the purpose of the association's existence. Taking risks for justice is necessary. In other words, defending justice where there is injustice is not easy. Injustice will become so widespread that there will be a constant need for justice, just as soil needs water. Then, in the end times, there will be a need for Islam,” he said.

Justice and power must be balanced…

Tarhan stated that it is very important for individuals to be able to establish justice within their own inner world; “Without justice, power is tyrannical. But without power, justice is lame and cannot do anything. Because both must be balanced, but in justice-oriented systems and power-oriented systems, power takes a secondary role. Justice takes the primary role. Someone who is not open to criticism cannot be fair. An arrogant, proud person cannot be fair. A person who is worldly and does not think about death also cannot be fair. That is, those intoxicated by things like great wealth and fame also cannot be fair. It is very important that we can establish and initiate justice within our own inner world,” he said.
