Continuing his scientific career at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek, Head of the Medical Pathology Department at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, has written his third Pathology textbook. In a small celebration ceremony attended by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector Nazife Güngör, Deans, and faculty members, Öztek briefly presented his latest book, “Macroscopic Examination, Description and Sampling in Pathology (Macroscopic Dissection),” and gifted it to his colleagues.
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek, Head of the Medical Pathology Department at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, has written his third Pathology textbook. Öztek’s first book, 'Basic Principles in Cytology,' focused on the principle of defining cancer from individual cells, while his second book, 'Pathology from the Ergotherapy Window,' is about the causes, processes, and treatments of diseases affecting all three structures that constitute a human: body, mind, and soul.
Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan: “Our professor is virtually the locomotive of university scholarship”
Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan extended his thanks to Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek, Head of the Medical Pathology Department at Üsküdar Üniversitesi. Tarhan stated, “Our professor is virtually the locomotive of university scholarship. As the Head of the Medical Pathology Department, he is extremely productive and sets an example for young faculty members, encouraging them. We extend our endless gratitude to him.”
‘Macroscopic Dissection’ book is a first in Turkey
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek stated that he will soon donate thirty thousand cancer slides to the Üsküdar Üniversitesi library, making them available to world science. He said, “While serving at Gülhane Military Medical Academy, we conducted many research projects and published many papers that received international recognition. However, there was something missing: writing books and creating lasting works. I am trying to complete this deficiency within the opportunities provided by my esteemed Founding Rector, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan. I am still at the beginning of the road. I have thirty thousand cancer slides. I have classified and named them, and I will soon donate them to the Üsküdar Üniversitesi library, making them available to world science. My book ‘Macroscopic Dissection’ is a first in Turkey. It will be distributed free of charge to the pathology community. Our culture says, ‘Even if knowledge is in China, go and get it.’ It is not enough to acquire knowledge from China; you must produce it. Since we will raise the future Ibn-i Sinas, Sabuncuoğlu Şerefettins, Hamdi Suat Aknars, Hulusi Behçets, Gazi Yaşargils, Aziz Sancars, and Uğur Şahins, then as professors, we must work hard, produce, and liberate Turkish science from being merely a translated science. By transferring our own experiences to our students, we will ensure they are educated in a realistic manner.”
