The “November 10th 85th Anniversary Atatürk Commemoration Program” was organized hosted by Üsküdar Üniversitesi SHMYO. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek, Head of the Department of Medical Pathology at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, participated in the program as a speaker.

The program, organized under the title “November 10th 85th Anniversary Atatürk Commemoration Program,” was held in the Emirnebi 1 conference hall.

The program, moderated by Lecturer Ayşe Bağlı, was also attended by SHMYO Director Prof. Dr. Mesut Karahan and Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur.

He campaigned from front to front

Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek emphasized that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s short life was spent on battlefields; “The great leader who emerged on the stage of history, stating, ‘Liberty and independence are my character.’ In a dark period when the honor and dignity of the homeland and nation were trampled upon, he became the will and savior of Turkishness. He is a true leader. He was always a leader for his nation in war and peace, in nation-building, in becoming an honorable, independent nation, and in standing firm against dominant powers. He was at the forefront of his armies even when he gave the command, ‘Armies, your first target is the Mediterranean. Forward!’ He spent his short 57-year life rushing from front to front, from Syria to North Africa, from the Balkans to Palestine, from Gallipoli to Eastern Anatolia…”

Turkishness is my greatest source of pride

Öztek, explaining the importance of Turkish culture, said; “The chests of Turks, filled with love for their homeland, will always rise like an iron wall against the nefarious ambitions of enemies. We are directly patriotic, we are Turkish nationalists. Our Republic is founded on the Turkish community. Those who founded the Republic of Turkey and made it their common homeland are Turks. The more this society's individuals are filled with Turkish culture, the higher that society rises. Turkish nationalism, in harmony with all modern nations, considers it essential to preserve the special character and independent identity of Turkish society. This nationalism is definitely not ethnicism. Nations that do not possess their own identity and nationality become prey for other nations. Turkishness has been my greatest source of value and my greatest source of pride.” he stated.
The program concluded with a plaque presentation and a group photo session.
