Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı, faculty member of the Üsküdar Üniversitesi, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology, participated as an invited speaker in the “1st Conference of Azerbaijani Scientists Abroad”. Süleymanlı, who has been at the Turkic Academy in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on an overseas assignment for some time, made evaluations regarding the current status of Azerbaijan's scientific diaspora.

The conference was held at Gulustan Palace in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on September 9-11, 2024. The conference, which garnered significant interest, was attended by 200 people. Among these attendees were 80 Azerbaijani scientists from 23 countries, along with high-ranking officials, rectors, and government institution managers from Azerbaijan.

4 Separate Sessions Held
The conference, jointly organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Work with Diaspora, the Ministry of Education and Science of Azerbaijan, and the Union of Azerbaijani Scientists Abroad, attracted significant attention. Discussions were held on pre-prepared topics across four separate sessions in the fields of health, engineering, and social sciences.
What Can Be Done for the Development of Science and Economy Was Discussed
During the sessions, opinions and proposals were voiced on how to utilize the experiences and observations of Azerbaijani scientists working abroad for the development of Azerbaijan's science and economy. In this context, evaluations and recommendations were presented for establishing and strengthening permanent collaborations.
Assessment of the Current State of Azerbaijan's Scientific Diaspora Conducted
In his evaluation, Prof. Dr. Ebulfez Süleymanlı made assessments regarding the determination of the current status of Azerbaijan's scientific diaspora. Süleymanlı also emphasized the importance of conducting sociological research for the development of a future strategy in this direction.
On the other hand, Süleymanlı made evaluations regarding the "1st Conference of Azerbaijani Scientists Abroad" on Azerbaijani television.

Khankendi and Shusha Cities Visited
On the last day of the conference, a large delegation visited the recently liberated cities of Khankendi and Shusha.
Later, a meeting was held with the academic board of Karabakh University, which will commence operations in the 2024-2025 academic year.
