Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan: “Young people have always wanted freedom and justice”

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, noting that political psychology is a very important field of science, drew attention to the necessity for politicians to correctly interpret and understand the needs of young people today. Prof. Dr. Arıboğan noted that in all studies, young people's priority is neither money, nor career, nor fame, emphasizing that young people desire freedom and justice. Prof. Dr. Arıboğan stated that this situation is not only related to the current period but that young people have disliked pressure that constantly calls for order throughout history, starting from ancient times.

Young people don't like pressure that calls for order!

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Rector's Advisor and Director of the Political Psychology Application and Research Center, Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, stated that the preferences of young voters are important during the election process.

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan stated that young people have always been fond of their freedom throughout every period of history, from ancient times to the present day, and that they have fought to protect their freedom and rights in every era.

Young people dislike constant pressure that calls for order

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan stated that the young generation also feels an affinity for political parties that advocate for this struggle for their freedom and rights, saying, “Young people do not like constant suppressive pressure that always calls for order. This is inherent in the nature of youth. This has been the case since ancient times.

Young people complain about incompetence

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan stated that the suspension of face-to-face education in universities, especially after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, caused reactions, saying, “Even the shift of education to online format in universities created a very serious and significant reaction. Young people were condemned to a joyless and socially barren environment. On the other hand, young people find appointments based on certain connections very disturbing. Young people do not want to accept this situation. No matter how hard they work, they know that someone far less qualified than themselves will be made general manager of a company in their 20s. They are very bothered by these things.”

Young people who support President Erdoğan are against the global status quo advocates

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, noting that some studies also found that young people supporting President Erdoğan are against global status quo advocates despite these concerns, said, “Young people who lean towards President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are also against global status quo advocates. Erdoğan is a leader who says, ‘The world is bigger than five.’ He symbolizes a power that rebels against the world designed by America. These young people are also resisting this situation, pursuing revolution there. So, the fundamental issue is revolution on both sides. Those who vote for him see it this way. They see it that way, while others are after revision. On both sides, youth is being swept along by these winds.”

Young people want justice and freedom

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, noting that political psychology is a very important field of science, said, “Without knowing this, it is not possible to properly understand youth. We see in all studies that young people’s priority is neither money, nor career, nor fame. They want justice and freedom. It emerges so clearly. That is where they are most affected. There is a saying, ‘Where you are wounded becomes your identity.’ You have wounded the children there. They seek justice not in law or in the judiciary, but in their lives. ‘Will I work, will I strive? Will a fair opportunity come, or will someone's nephew get ahead of me?’ They are devastated there. Whatever happens in this country, no matter who wins the election, this system must change. This is unacceptable. The despair, anger, and disappointment towards the state in their eyes are very distressing.”
