Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan: “The Israeli administration may find the opportunity it has long been looking for”

Evaluating the Palestine-Israel tension, Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan stated that the Hamas attack was not (at its core) aimed at protecting, saving the Palestinian people, or punishing Israel, but rather at changing the order. “The Israeli administration may find the opportunity it has long been looking for, as it has emerged with new gains from every attack since its establishment,” said Prof. Dr. Arıboğan, pointing out that this attack could eventually set the stage for a war covering the entire region by targeting Iran.

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and a faculty member of the Political Science and International Relations Department at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, evaluated the Palestine-Israel tension.

A Superpolitical Act…

“The Hamas attack is not merely a terrorist event with a very high capacity for violence and destruction; on the contrary, it is a ‘superpolitical’ act that could trigger very important global strategic changes,” said Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan, sharing her analyses that put forward assumptions.

Terrorist Organizations Are Also Used as Subcontractors

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan noted that all organizations involved in terrorism, without exception, are also used as subcontractors, and continued:
“Within all of them, especially in their leadership cadres, there are elements of various intelligence agencies. While ordinary terrorists believe they are protecting their people and ideology against the enemy, the decision-making cadres have short and long-term goals and negotiations, such as protecting their positions, the organization's legal-illegal income sources, changing international alliance systems, and their brand and image. Therefore, all of them actually establish connections, through indirect channels, with the state mechanisms they claim to fight against and its corrupt units. In other words, what is seen and declared externally is very different from the internal structure.”

The 9/11 attacks allowed global defense spending to rise to $2.2 trillion

Political scientist Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan also stated the following regarding the structure of terrorist organizations:
“As terrorist organizations intensify and escalate their actions, they securitize the mental environment, shape public opinion around security, and legitimize the repressive measures taken or to be taken by central authorities. If there is an organization using violence, naturally there will be a security mechanism responding with counter-violence. Securitized processes determine economic resource allocation, individual-state relations, political priorities, and voter behavior. The 9/11 attacks allowed global defense spending to rise from $750 billion to $2.2 trillion today. Al-Qaeda and ISIS, in particular, provided the opportunity that the burgeoning military-industrial complex of the USA had been looking for but couldn't find.”

Who Will Benefit from the Hamas Attack?

Evaluating the Hamas attack, Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan stated the following:
“The 9/11 attack was not aimed at punishing the USA but at changing the global order, and it succeeded. The Hamas attack is also not (at its core) aimed at protecting, saving the Palestinian people, or punishing Israel. It is aimed at changing the order. By legitimizing much heavier damage to the Palestinian people, it could also provide legitimacy for the complete evacuation of Gaza. The Israeli administration may find the opportunity it has long been looking for, as it has emerged with new gains from every attack since its establishment.

Moreover, the impact of an attack of this magnitude does not stop there. It cuts off the trend of détente and understanding between Israel, the Gulf, and Iran, which has been proceeding independently of the USA in the Middle East. It reduces the effectiveness of Turkey and Azerbaijan, which support this détente and have made significant progress in the region with their own initiatives; it could sow discord between these two countries, caught between Israel and Hamas. The two countries producing policies together is important in this regard.

The Attack Could Set the Stage for a War Encompassing the Entire Region

This attack could eventually set the stage for a war encompassing the entire region by targeting Iran. It is essential to be careful, as the Iran issue has been brewing for quite some time.”

Israel's 9/11…

Prof. Dr. Deniz Ülke Arıboğan concluded her remarks by posing the following questions:
“A question: Why did that deep analytical community, which believes the 9/11 attacks were orchestrated by the USA itself and that the USA thus intervened directly in Afghanistan and Iraq, and indirectly in some surrounding geographies by establishing bases, choose to perceive Israel's 9/11 as so 'outside of conspiracy'? Why did it choose to ignore the dimensions of Israel's potential reaction and the damage it could inflict on the Palestinian cause? If there was a conspiracy there, why is it assumed there isn't one here?”
