Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot Receives 'Outstanding Contribution' Award…

Another award for Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot, who has carried out significant international work in the field of Speech and Language. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) honored Konrot with the 'Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contribution in International Achievement' for his outstanding achievements in the fields of speech and language therapy.

An important award was presented to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot, Head of the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Health Sciences, who has carried out significant academic and clinical work in the field of Speech and Language both in our country and globally.

Along with Konrot, Prof. Dr. İlknur Maviş and Prof. Dr. S. Seyhun Topbaş were also among the recipients of the award.  

They met the nomination criteria for the award through efforts such as opening the first Speech and Language Therapy program in Turkey, organizing various seminars, conferences, and in-service training with faculty support at national and international levels from within the field and related areas, establishing speech and language therapy centers in universities and providing therapy services to those in need at these centers, and participating in international projects and conferences to ensure the sustainability and recognition of the profession.  

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Areas of Work:

ASHA continues its activities as a professional, scientific, and accredited association with 234,000 members, consisting of speech-language pathologists and audiologists not only in the USA but also in various other countries. For over 70 years, ASHA has been recognizing its members for their contributions to their profession in many areas of work. The eligibility criteria for members nominated for recognition with the "Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contribution in International Achievement," which is one of these awards, include requirements such as "program development and management, conducting distinguished publications and research, organizing international training, and providing therapy services to individuals with communication disorders, etc."  However, this particular award is given to individuals or groups who make an impact on the profession through such work in a country other than the USA. The achievement can be focused on a specific period or represent a lifelong contribution. The aforementioned award was given only to candidates from Turkey and Australia for the year 2024.
