The Speech and Language Therapists Association (DKTD) elected its new president at its ordinary general assembly meeting. Head of the Department of Speech and Language Therapy, Faculty of Health Sciences at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Konrot, was elected as the Chairman of the DKTD Board of Directors.
Joint studies are being conducted with the European Speech and Language Therapists Association on this matter!
DKTD is a professional association formed by individuals who have received training in the field of speech and language disorders and therapy in accordance with international criteria. Its objectives include ensuring that this profession is practiced in the most beneficial and ethical manner for the public, informing the public and other specialists about speech and language disorders, encouraging scientific studies for the diagnosis and treatment of speech and language disorders, protecting the professional rights of speech and language therapists, and ensuring cooperation among speech and language therapy students and graduates. Its vision is: The association's core mission is to protect the effective communication, nutrition, and swallowing health of everyone in need of speech and language therapy on the basis of human rights, to make it accessible and sustainable, and to become influential nationally and internationally by working scientifically and ethically to ensure they receive quality services. DKTD is one of the full members of the European Speech and Language Therapists Association (ESLA) and its international recognition is growing every day. The association is conducting joint studies with the European Speech and Language Therapists Association to create a Common Training Platform (CTP) to ensure the validity of speech and language therapists' diplomas throughout the European Union.
Speech and language disorders can affect adults as well as children!
The field of speech and language disorders, a scientific discipline that seeks to provide solutions for disorders causing disruptions in verbal communication, encompasses speech disorders such as stuttering, voice disorders, swallowing disorders, articulation disorders, and language disorders involving the sounds, meaning, grammar, and use of language. Some speech and language disorders can emerge developmentally without a specific cause, while others can be observed due to external factors such as hearing impairment, intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy, stroke, other neurogenic disorders, accidents, and illnesses.
