Potential and Future Discussed at the Threshold of Youth

The “Youth Threshold” event was held in cooperation with Üsküdar University Health, Culture and Sports (SKS) Department's Talent Awareness Club, Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, Istanbul Student Council, Ministry of Youth and Sports, ÖYEMER and ÜNİDES. During the event, topics such as youth talent awareness, personal development, branding, and epigenetics were discussed.

Rector's Advisor Halide İncekara, Instructor Elif Konar Özkan from the Child Development Program of the Vocational School of Health Services (SHMYO), Neurogenetics Specialist Büşra Teke, President of Istanbul Student Councils Mustafa Şahin, President of the Talent Awareness Club Semra Sunar, and many students attended the event held at the Avicenna Auditorium on Üsküdar University NP Health Campus.

Halide İncekara: “You Must Discover Your Own Potential”

Speaking in the first session of the event, Rector's Advisor Halide İncekara stated that young people need to discover their own potential to achieve success.

İncekara stated that while access to information has become easier today, what differentiates an individual is the ability to blend knowledge with character and values, advising young people to study the life stories of successful individuals and to orient themselves towards areas that will develop them.
Also touching upon the importance of family communication, İncekara said that establishing strong relationships in both social and professional life significantly contributes to personal development.

Instructor Elif Konar Özkan: “We Work Together with Youth”

Making the opening speech of the event, Instructor Elif Konar Özkan stated that young people are an important part not only of the future but also of today, and emphasized that they attach importance to producing and working together with youth.

Özkan noted that they were pleased to host student representatives from different districts of Istanbul within the scope of the ÜNİDES project.

Mustafa Şahin: “Student Councils are an Important Platform”

President of Istanbul Student Councils Mustafa Şahin stated that student councils offer an important platform for young people to develop themselves.

Şahin stated that students selected from different districts of Istanbul came together at the event, and said that student representations contribute to the social and academic development of young people.

The Motto: Notice, Contribute, and Make a Difference…

President of the Talent Awareness Club Semra Sunar also stated that within the scope of the project, they aim for young people to get to know themselves, gain awareness, and develop their talents.

Sunar stated that the activities contribute to the development of young people's leadership, communication, and self-expression skills.

Genetic and Environmental Dimensions of Talent Discussed

Speaking at the event, Neurogenetics Specialist Büşra Teke explained that talent is shaped not only by genetic but also by environmental factors.
Teke stated that especially social environment, secure attachment, and supportive relationships play a significant role in unleashing an individual's potential. Stating that teachers and mentors can guide young people in discovering their talents, Teke drew attention to the fact that positive thinking and motivation can contribute to an individual's development process.
