Melike Esentepe, a final-year student of Üsküdar University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Political Science and International Relations, and an intern at Üsküdar University Strategic Research Application and Research Center (ÜSSAM), reached the finals of the 7th "Evgeniy Primakov Middle East Research and Analysis Article Competition" held this year, with her article titled "Public Diplomacy Activities Between Turkey and Russia". Esentepe was invited to the final ceremony to be held in Moscow.
Examined public diplomacy activities between Turkey and Russia
Melike Esentepe, a final-year student of Üsküdar University's Political Science and International Relations Department, examined the impact of public diplomacy activities between the two countries on their relations in her research article titled "Public Diplomacy Activities Between Turkey and Russia".
In this context, she stated that she also compared the activities of the soft power institutions of the countries within the framework of public diplomacy.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries analyzed
Esentepe, who examined activities in Russia through prominent Turkish organizations such as the Yunus Emre Institute, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, stated that she utilized Turkish, English, and Russian sources in her article.
Melike Esentepe also stated that she used the interview method as a research technique and explained the purpose of the study.
Esentepe said: “The aim is to demonstrate, through comparative analysis, how cultural activities carried out by these institutions create an impact on public opinion in countries and the role they play in the diplomatic relations between the two countries.”
