Within the framework of the “Education Cooperation Protocol” signed between Üsküdar University, Ümraniye District Governorship, and Ümraniye District Directorate of National Education, students from Tev Uğuz Tarık Demirağ Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School visited Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Podology Program. In the “Think While Stepping – Foot Health Analysis” workshop held within the scope of the program, students learned about the importance of foot health, while also having the opportunity to get to know the field of podology closely through practical analyses conducted in a laboratory environment.

Podology Program brings high school students together with practical training

The training program held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus attracted great interest.
The importance of foot health was explained
In the event held in the Podology laboratory by Head of Podology Program Instructor Muharrem Tosun, the Podology Program was introduced to the students.
In the training conducted in the laboratory environment, the basic factors affecting foot health were discussed, and the impact of foot care on quality of life was explained with practical examples.

The effects of diabetes on foot health were discussed
Within the scope of the event, particular attention was drawn to diabetes. While the effects of a sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits on diabetes were conveyed, the risks that diabetes can create for foot health and the importance of early awareness were explained to the students with examples.

Correct shoe selection was emphasized
In the program, it was explained that choosing the wrong shoes can lead to various health problems such as calluses, ingrown nails, fungal infections, and posture disorders. Practical suggestions for maintaining foot health in daily life were also shared with the participants.
Foot health analysis was demonstrated practically
In the practical part of the event, a foot health analysis was performed on a student.
While the assessment methods used in the field of podology were shown to the participants step by step, students had the opportunity to reinforce theoretical knowledge with practice and get to know the profession closely.
