An effective exercise intervention can improve attention skills
Elif Punar, a student from the Uskudar University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, had her thesis titled “Investigation of the Effect of Goal-Oriented Balance and Coordination Exercises on Attention and Quality of Life in Children Diagnosed with Specific Learning Difficulty” published in BMC Pediatrics (Open Access/SCIE-Q2) journal.
Punar, who investigated the effect of physiotherapeutic applications in children with specific learning difficulty in her thesis, stated that according to the results, an effective exercise intervention can improve cognitive tasks such as developing attention skills for children with specific learning difficulty.
Exercises should be applied to reduce premenstrual symptoms
Another thesis was written by Şeyma Aykut, a student from the Uskudar University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. In her thesis, published under the title “The Effect of Video-Based Pilates Exercises on Premenstrual Symptoms,” Aykut focused on premenstrual symptoms, which are commonly observed in society, and utilized various exercise applications from a physiotherapist's perspective to reduce these symptoms. Aykut's thesis was published in Ginekologia Polska (Open Access/SCIE-Q3) journal.
In her thesis, Aykut demonstrated that premenstrual symptoms can be effectively alleviated through pilates by promoting proper muscle usage and enhanced muscle awareness.
The results also showed that individuals suffering from premenstrual symptoms can benefit from non-pharmacological interventions.
These studies conducted during postgraduate education, which is the most fundamental step in an academic career, contribute to equipping students with more comprehensive skills.
