Within the framework of the “Education Cooperation Protocol” signed between Üsküdar University, Ümraniye District Governorship and Ümraniye District Directorate of National Education, students from Ümraniye Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School visited Üsküdar University Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) Occupational Health and Safety Program. During the program, students were informed about the field of occupational health and safety and the working areas of the profession, and their participation was ensured through a game-based learning activity called “Hazard Hunt”. The program also included an introduction to personal protective equipment and practical information on the use of equipment such as horizontal and vertical lifelines.

Personal protective equipment introduced to students through practical application

The training program held at Üsküdar University Çarşı Campus attracted great interest.
The program was conducted by Asst. Prof. Gamze Kağan Koca, Head of Occupational Health and Safety Program, and Instructor Esad Sadık Demirtaş, VSHS Deputy Director.

Game-based learning activity held
Within the scope of the event, students received information about the working areas of the profession in the Occupational Health and Safety Laboratory. Subsequently, students' active participation was ensured through a game-based learning activity called “Hazard Hunt”.
During the application process, students were asked to identify hazards based on the visuals presented, and participants recorded the hazards and risk levels they identified on the Hazard Hunt Form. Afterwards, students evaluated each other's work and scored them, and as a result of the evaluations, the top three students with the highest scores were awarded.

All participating students were also given a bookmarker as a gift.
Personal protective equipment introduced
Throughout the program, personal protective equipment was introduced to the students, offering them an opportunity for practical examination. Information was provided on the purposes of use of equipment such as horizontal and vertical lifelines. Additionally, risks that may be encountered in working life were explained with examples, reinforcing safety awareness.

At the event, it was emphasized that safety awareness is important not only in working life but in all areas of daily life; the differences between the concepts of “hazard” and “risk” were explained with examples. In this regard, it was aimed to contribute to the development of safe behavior among students.
