University candidates are trying to complete their final preparations for the YKS exam, which will be held on June 18-19, 2022. Experts, stating that anxiety should be avoided for this period to be spent productively, recommend creating a study plan until the exam date and solving practice exams every day. Experts suggest, “Instead of learning new topics, if there are topics you need to complete, choose the ones you can do best among them and plan your studies based on these topics.”
Ece Tözeniş, Manager of Educational Institutions and Guidance Services at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, Expert Psychological Counselor and Career Consultant, offered advice to candidates regarding the approaching YKS 2022.

Results to be announced on July 20…
Uzm. Psk. Dan. Ece Tözeniş stated that the 2022 YKS will be held in 3 sessions on June 18-19, adding, “On Saturday, June 18, candidates will take the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), and on Sunday, June 19, they will take the Field Proficiency Test (AYT) in the morning session and the Foreign Language Test (YDT) in the afternoon session. YKS results will be announced on July 20, 2022.”
Negative thoughts should be avoided
Tözeniş offered advice to candidates, saying, “Dear candidates, all of you have put in great efforts to reach the universities and professions you have dreamed of. When the results are announced, you will make your choices by receiving the scores and success rankings that reflect your efforts.”
Expert Psychological Counselor and Career Consultant Ece Tözeniş advised avoiding negative thoughts and anxieties, stating the following:
Oh no! No time left!
- - First and foremost, pay great attention to your health.
- - Create a study plan until the exam date.
- - The exam is not an end for us; you can be successful or unsuccessful. The exam measures the knowledge we learned throughout our high school life, not our personality. Therefore, don't forget how valuable you are, and even remind yourself of this occasionally.
- - Establish your sleep schedule. Make an effort to go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time every night. The healthier you sleep, the more energetic you will be during the day.
- - Pay attention to your diet. Stay away from excessively fatty foods and junk food during this period.
- - Doing physical exercises during the day will benefit you both physically and mentally. With outdoor walks and light exercises that don't overexert your body, you can feel better and more motivated.
Topics are not covered in time
Since there is little time left until the exam, instead of learning new topics, if there are topics you need to complete, choose the ones you can do best among them and plan your studies based on these topics.
I still can't get the score I want in practice exams
Make sure to solve a practice exam every day. In these YKS-format practice exams, use your time effectively. After the practice exam, always check your correct and incorrect answers. Make an effort to go over the incorrect questions. If your mistake is due to carelessness, solve questions related to that topic; if your mistake is due to a lack of subject knowledge, complete your knowledge gaps on that topic. This way, you will make the tests or practice exams you solve more productive.
I want the exam to be over as soon as possible
In recent weeks, it's very natural to start feeling more bored; in such situations, get out of indoor environments and, if possible, take outdoor walks, and spend enjoyable time with your friends. If we take a break from studying for a while, we won't lose anything; on the contrary, we will start studying again with better motivation.
Exam entry locations have also been announced, I wonder where this school is?
Exam admission documents have been published by ÖSYM. Make sure to visit and see your exam location beforehand.
Spend the day before resting!
Expert Psychological Counselor and Career Consultant Ece Tözeniş concluded her words by advising candidates to spend the day before the exam resting abundantly and doing things they love: “Try to keep yourself away from negative conversations and negative emotions related to the exam. To avoid anxiety on exam morning, prepare your exam documents and comfortable clothes you will wear the next day in the evening. On exam day, have a usual breakfast. During the exam, when you feel excited and your anxiety rises, leave the questions for a few seconds and take deep breaths; afterwards, you will make a better start. Your choices will shape your life, and the exam is a process to reach your goal.”
