The opening ceremony for the Orthodontics Laboratory and Pedodontics Laboratory was held by Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry and Üsküdar University Dental Hospital. While academics showed great interest in the opening ceremony, the new laboratories will enable students to receive practical training, develop their manual skills, and gain clinical experience. Being one of the few examples in Turkey, the laboratories, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, offer advanced facilities for the production, repair, and renewal of both orthodontic and pedodontic appliances.
The laboratories within Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry and Üsküdar University Dental Hospital will serve on the 4th floor of the Faculty of Dentistry at NP Health Campus.
The opening ceremony for these two laboratories, which are also important for Turkey, was attended by numerous academics, including Üsküdar University Founding Rector Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hikmet Koçak, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Ziver Ergün Yücel, Head of the Medical Pathology Department of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. İbrahim Öztek, and Faculty Member of the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Prof. Dr. Yumuşhan Günay.

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan and Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör toured the newly opened laboratories and received information from the relevant physicians. Tarhan stated that the laboratories would provide significant contributions to both patients and students.
Opportunity for practical training with the Pedodontics laboratory
The Pedodontics laboratory, opened under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Buse Yılmaz Şen from Üsküdar University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, provides the necessary infrastructure for the production, repair, and renewal of removable and fixed appliances planned to be applied to patients by pedodontists.
This laboratory also offers a significant educational opportunity for Dental Prosthesis Technology students. Students gain access to professional knowledge, allowing them to develop manual skills and conduct practical work.
Access to current technologies with the Orthodontics laboratory
The orthodontics laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Zeynep Mutlu, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Department of Orthodontics, is positioned as an integral part of the orthodontics clinic. Laboratory work for removable and fixed appliances to be applied according to the treatment plan by orthodontists is carried out here. Additionally, advanced facilities are offered for the repair and renewal of broken or deformed appliances.

In the laboratories, which are among Turkey's few examples and equipped with state-of-the-art devices and equipment, students have the opportunity to develop their skills and support their clinical training using current orthodontic materials.

Furthermore, the orthodontic photo studio located within the Orthodontics laboratory is integrated into the clinic. Speaking about the importance of the studio, where intraoral and extraoral photos are taken to record the patient's orthodontic status, Dr. Lecturer Zeynep Mutlu stated; “Intraoral photos are generally taken in the units, but extraoral photos are taken in front of a curtain for standardization purposes. That's why we have a blackout curtain. We also have an orthodontics drawing room to manage treatment processes more accurately. We can see the patient's entire development from here.”
