Orientation Programs Started at Üsküdar Üniversitesi

Üsküdar Üniversitesi’s Medicine and Dentistry Orientation programs were held. In the orientation program, attended by Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Yumuşhan Günay, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, directorates operating within Üsküdar Üniversitesi made informative presentations to students for Fİ-JİTAL education before the new academic year.

Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur: “We pursued this profession to give hope to everyone”

Prof. Dr. Haydar Sur, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, shared his advice with the students regarding the education and rationality of the field. Prof. Dr. Sur; “You have entered social living spaces. In these social living spaces, you are gaining knowledge that will be beneficial in your daily life, in addition to fulfilling your student responsibilities. Look, friends, there's something that frustrates us greatly; some things emphasized repeatedly during orientation days are forgotten by students after 6 months, and they fail their classes. When you read the website, it is explained there many times. Our office door is always open to you every day. You can meet with any of our instructors whenever you wish. When a problem reaches an insoluble stage and a student comes saying 'instructor, please fix this,' we regrettably say we cannot do anything. Therefore, I urge you to particularly learn well what your friends will tell you today. I said these things from the bottom of my heart, but you will go through a very significant period within these 6 years, and we will have a wonderful relationship with you. Because we want to undertake your life coaching in the faculty. A pathology instructor doesn't just teach pathology and leave. The instructor is ready and waiting to transfer all the knowledge and experiences gained throughout their life to you. I can say the same for all your instructors. I especially want to emphasize that you should not neglect face-to-face relationships with your advisor instructors or period coordinators. With these sentiments, first as your senior colleague, and if possible, as your instructor, may God help you. I pray that you become very successful doctors,” he said.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuri Bingöl: “Exams will not be online, they will be face-to-face”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuri Bingöl, Director of Distance Education, also shared information regarding exams and the website. Bingöl; “I am the director of distance education, when you enter the address uskudar.edu.tr/uzaktan eğitim koordinasyonu, you enter an area where educational documents are located. If you say you can't remember or don't know this, when you enter lms.uskudar.edu.tr, there is a link on the right side. You go to the same page again. On the right side, they provide educational documents for students. How to enter the class? Exams will not be online; they will be face-to-face. There is such a Rectorate decision. What if the pandemic progresses and exams become online? How are exams conducted, and how do you access them? For that, if you send an email to ue@uskudar.edu.tr regarding any problem, our colleagues will respond in a very short time,” he said.

Corporate Communications Director Tahsin Aksu: “Social media is our university’s gateway to the outside world”

Tahsin Aksu, Corporate Communications Director, emphasizing that social media accounts must be followed by students, said; “I kindly request you to follow our accounts, especially on social media. Because many important announcements are made on our social media accounts before our regular communication channels, such as the website, mailing, or messages. Share your criticisms and suggestions regarding the university with us; the doors of the Corporate Communications Directorate are always open to you, please visit us. Social media is our university’s gateway to the outside world. The comments made there are very important for us, and therefore your university diploma will accompany you throughout your life. I advise you to refrain from any comments that could harm us,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Yumuşhan Günay: “We are under the roof of a university that has made significant progress”

Yumuşhan Günay, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, conveyed his thanks and gratitude in his speech; “I am truly experiencing the most beautiful days of my life. I extend my gratitude primarily to our esteemed rector, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, for giving me the opportunity to experience this beauty. As you can see, it has spread to a very wide range of interests. We are under the roof of a university that is in the process of giving with a very strong university tradition and has made very significant progress in this direction. For this, I thank God. I offer my gratitude and thanks to those who made this possible. We will have a wonderful togetherness. Hopefully, we will spend it with health and hope, first and foremost. We will never get tired, and we will never be discouraged,” he said.

Among those who presented at the Orientation Program were Özcan Demir from the SKS Directorate, Cumhur Bakır from the Student Affairs Directorate, Cihan Eker from the Library Directorate, Asil Barış Bağ from the Career Center Directorate, Erdal Özdek from the Information Technologies Directorate, Peyman Jafari from the International Relations Directorate, and Halime Usta Yoğun, Director of ARGEYEP.
