Üsküdar University and NPİSTANBUL Hospital will represent Türkiye at the 11th G20 Neuroscience20 (BRAIN–SPINE–MENTAL–HEALTH) Summit, organized by the Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT), based in the United States. The summit will be held on November 21–22, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The opening speech will be delivered by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Psychiatrist and President of Üsküdar University, with a presentation titled “Neurotech & AI Tech in Mental Health Care.”

Prof. Tarhan will discuss the role of AI-assisted diagnostic systems, digital therapy platforms, digital therapeutics (DtX), brain–computer interfaces, and neuromodulation technologies in clinical applications. He will share how these technologies enable personalized treatment approaches in next-generation psychiatric care, enhancing diagnostic accuracy, optimizing monitoring processes, and improving accessibility, using examples from NPİSTANBUL Hospital and Üsküdar University practices.

About the N20 Summit and Its research focus
The Neuroscience20 (N20) initiative aims to establish a global alliance in the fields of brain, spine, and mental health by promoting multidisciplinary collaboration. Within this scope, N20 focuses on data standardization, policy alignment, neuroeconomic impact analysis, and harmonization of international clinical trial regulations.
By supporting interdisciplinary R&D and commercialization processes in fields such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, stem cell therapies, neuroimaging, and neurophotonics, N20 seeks to accelerate the transfer of next-generation treatments from research to real-world practice.

The N20 Platform encourages interdisciplinary cooperation
Gathering annually before the G20 meetings, the N20 research group presents its findings at the Neuroscience20 Summit, focusing on the potential of neuroscience and big data–driven approaches to shape the future.
Big data analytics in neuroscience provides unique opportunities to better understand complex brain processes, enable early diagnosis of neurological diseases, and develop personalized treatment methods. In this context, AI algorithms and machine learning models play a critical role in processing, analyzing, and interpreting neural datasets. The N20 platform promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, aiming to advance in key areas such as data sharing, standardization, and the development of ethical frameworks.
Two representatives from Üsküdar University will attend the summit
Accompanying the summit will be Prof. Türker Tekin Ergüzel, Vice Rector of Üsküdar University, who will present the university’s neuroscience research and engineering applications, and Fırat Tarhan, Member of the Board of NPİSTANBUL Hospital, who will share data-driven practices and research conducted at the hospital.
