Selman Utku, one of Üsküdar University's SKS specialists, began to operate voluntarily in the earthquake zone with the 'Kamp Ateşi Türkiye Search and Rescue Association' after two earthquakes measuring 7.68 in Kahramanmaraş and 7.6 in Gaziantep occurred on February 6. In the search and rescue efforts, the 8-person team, including Utku, played a significant role in rescuing 14 of our citizens from under the rubble.
He participated in search and rescue efforts in many different areas in Hatay
Following the earthquakes that affected 11 provinces and were described as the disaster of the century, Utku, who voluntarily took part in the search and rescue team to rescue citizens trapped under the rubble, is one of the heroes who has been struggling day and night in the field for days to rescue lives trapped under the rubble in Hatay, one of the regions most severely affected by the earthquake.
Utku participated in search and rescue efforts in various areas of the disaster zone through the Kamp Ateşi Türkiye Search and Rescue Association; he carried out aid efforts in Hatay, at the locations of Reyhanlı, Samandağ, Altınözü, Kırıkhan, Terzihöyük Village, Odabaşı Neighborhood, Akevler Neighborhood, and Rönesans Residence.

Utku, who participated in search and rescue efforts in the first days of the earthquake, in the following days, as a team leader, he organized aid coming from various regions of Turkey and ensured its distribution to villages in need. At night, in the later hours, he continued search and rescue operations in the rubble of collapsed buildings based on verified information.

Utku, together with the 8-person team he was part of, rescued a total of 14 of our citizens from the rubble. The most miraculous rescue among the earthquake victims pulled from the rubble was that of a mother and her 2-year-old baby, trapped under the rubble in Hatay's Cebrail Neighborhood, who were rescued after 9 hours of work with the help of French search and rescue dogs, at the 92nd hour of the disaster.
