Second-year students of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Occupational Therapy, donned their white coats in a ceremony. The White Coat Ceremony, held at the Ibn-i Sina Auditorium on the NP Dental and Health campus, was filled with joyful and exciting moments. On this significant day, the students' families also did not leave them alone.

The opening speeches were delivered by Merve Tutar, second-year representative of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Occupational Therapy, and Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Occupational Therapy.

Class Representative Tutar: “We understand the value of our department more and more each day.”

Speaking about the importance and value of the Occupational Therapy Department, Merve Tutar said, “With the support of our professors, we understand the value of our department more and more each day. I hope that all of us, as future Occupational Therapists, can practice this profession conscientiously, doing it justice, and contribute to the development of the Occupational Therapy Department. We thank you for sharing in our excitement.”

Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin: “Wearing a white coat in this profession is an extremely important and valuable approach”

At the ceremony, where families were observed to be as excited as the students, Prof. Dr. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Head of the Department of Occupational Therapy, gave valuable advice to future Occupational Therapists. Ertekin said, “Wearing a white coat in this profession is an extremely important and valuable approach. Being with our students today, who will actively join our healthcare army by donning their white coats, is extremely valuable for both you parents and us, the faculty members. Occupational therapy can be considered among the newly established professions worldwide. You will undertake a very important mission, providing support to all segments of society, giving people who have lost the ability to communicate with society and life the chance to be part of society again. I believe that you will do great things with developments all over the world. 20-30 years ago, we did not see any disabled individuals outside in our country. However, today we have slowly started to integrate them into society and see people outside. You will be extremely valuable healthcare professionals who will not only see these individuals outside but also support them in becoming self-sufficient, productive members for society and themselves, preserving their human values. I congratulate all our students in advance.”

Following the music recital by Merve Tutar and Eda Kaçakçı, second-year students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Occupational Therapy, the performance of their own compositions by Lecturer İsa Kör from the Occupational Therapy Department received great applause from students and parents.

The White Coat Ceremony, organized for second-year students of Üsküdar Üniversitesi Department of Occupational Therapy, concluded after the students donned their presented white coats and a group photo was taken.
