Nutrition and Dietetics students took their first step into the profession with white coats

Final year students of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics experienced the excitement of wearing white coats. At the opening of the ceremony, Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, emphasized that students will be part of a profession that directly touches human health, while Prof. Müge Arslan, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, stated that the white coat is a powerful symbol representing knowledge, responsibility, and ethical values. Following the speeches, the students put on their white coats with great excitement and happiness. 

The ceremony held at the İbni Sina Auditorium of Üsküdar University NP Health Campus was attended by Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Müge Arslan, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Instructor Hatice Nurseda Hatunoğlu, Instructor Kübra Şahin, and Res. Asst. Dr. Hatice Çolak Çetinkaya, as well as students and their parents. 

Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin: “You will be part of a field that directly touches people”

Prof. Arif Aktuğ Ertekin, Dean of Üsküdar University Faculty of Health Sciences, delivered the opening speech of the white coat ceremony; “Today, we are experiencing a moment where the efforts put in are starting to bear fruit. Reaching this point is not easy, but I am sure that this success is a great source of happiness for all of you. Your families have put in great effort and support for you to reach this point. You will understand its value much better when you have your own family in the future. Welcome to the healthcare community. From now on, you will not only have a profession but also be part of a field that directly touches people. Nutrition is one of the most fundamental elements of life. This process, which starts before birth and continues throughout life, directly affects our health. However, today, especially obesity and physical inactivity have become serious problems, and our country is also among the negative rankings in this regard. At this point, a great responsibility falls on you young people. I wish you to see the creation of a healthier, more active, and conscious society not just as a profession, but also as a social responsibility. I believe that many of you will transfer this knowledge and experience to others as academics in the future.”

Prof. Müge Arslan: “The white coat is a powerful symbol representing dedication to human health”

Prof. Müge Arslan, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, spoke at the opening of the ceremony. Arslan; “The white coat you will wear today is not just a piece of clothing but a powerful symbol representing knowledge, responsibility, and dedication to human health. These coats signify the first step in your professional journey and the great responsibility you will undertake. You are taking your first step towards becoming healthcare professionals who will play an important role in building a healthy future by touching human lives. This process is not just a beginning but a long journey that you will pursue in the light of ethical values and science. I thank your families and our academic staff who have contributed to you reaching this point. I congratulate you, dear young people, for your perseverance and success, and I am proud of you. Without forgetting the responsibility and value of your profession, I wish you a successful and happy professional life in line with ethical principles.”
