'Nothing to Hide Project' Aims to Raise Awareness

Üsküdar Üniversitesi Public Relations and Promotion Department senior students developed a social responsibility project themed "Nothing to Hide" with the aim of breaking menstrual taboos and reducing period poverty.

Within the scope of the project, students delivered washable pads to 26 women in Siirt's Tüylüce (Nallıkaya) Village who cannot access hygienic products due to menstrual taboos and economic reasons.

Public Relations and Promotion Department 4th-year students Senanur Kaymaz, Aslıhan Albayrak, Arifenur Okatın, and Elif Şahin developed a social responsibility project themed "Nothing to Hide" under the leadership of Dr. Lecturer Nejla Polat. The students aim to break menstrual taboos with the "We Didn't Shame, We Drew" exhibition, opened to visitors in the Üsküdar Üniversitesi South Campus Foyer area. In addition to Üsküdar Üniversitesi Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Nazife Güngör, many academics and students attended the exhibition opening.

"26 women reached within the scope of the project"

Within the scope of the project, washable pads were delivered to 26 women residing in Siirt's Tüylüce village, identified as in need, to prevent health problems arising from menstrual taboos and economic reasons, and they were informed about their use. The women, who expressed their gratitude for the training and pads provided, are aimed to spend their menstrual periods in sterile conditions within the project.
