Üsküdar University has realized another significant investment that will strengthen its scientific research infrastructure. The PlanTech Plant Biotechnology Application and Research Laboratory, established within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, was inaugurated with a ceremony. Equipped with advanced technology devices, the laboratory will make significant contributions to both scientific production and academic studies at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels through research to be carried out in the fields of plant biotechnology, molecular biology, plant tissue culture, phytochemistry, and nanobiotechnology.

The opening ceremony of the PlanTech Plant Biotechnology Application and Research Laboratory, established within the Üsküdar University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, was attended by Üsküdar University President Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Prof. Osman Çerezci, Laboratory Manager Asst. Prof. Esma Ulusoy, businessman Onur Erhan Ulusoy, and academics from the Nanobiotechnology Working Group.

Laboratory opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony

In the laboratory opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, participants toured the facility and examined the research infrastructure on-site. Information about the advanced technology devices in the laboratory was provided by Laboratory Manager Asst. Prof. Esma Ulusoy, and planned research and the laboratory's contributions to academic studies were shared.

Participants closely examined the technical infrastructure of the laboratory and made evaluations about the opportunities it will offer for scientific research.

Prof. Nevzat Tarhan: “It offers a significant research infrastructure that will support scientific production”

Speaking at the opening, Üsküdar University President Prof. Nevzat Tarhan stated that strong research infrastructures play an important role in the scientific development of universities.

Tarhan; “Our PlanTech Laboratory offers a significant research infrastructure that will support scientific production. This laboratory will provide a qualified research environment for our students, academics, and researchers. It will also make significant contributions to scientific studies carried out in the field of biotechnology. I thank everyone who contributed to the establishment of the laboratory.”

Prof. Nazife Güngör: “It will provide significant research opportunities”

Rector Prof. Nazife Güngör also pointed out that universities are not only institutions that provide education but also institutions that produce knowledge and develop research.

Stating that the PlanTech Laboratory will offer significant research opportunities to students and academics with its strong technical infrastructure, Güngör wished that the scientific studies to be carried out in the laboratory would contribute to new projects, academic collaborations, and qualified scientific outputs.

Asst. Prof. Esma Ulusoy: “It will offer significant opportunities for young researchers”

Laboratory Manager Asst. Prof. Esma Ulusoy thanked everyone who supported and contributed during the establishment process of the PlanTech Laboratory.

Ulusoy stated that the laboratory will be an important center for research to be carried out in the fields of plant biotechnology, molecular biology, phytochemistry, and nanobiotechnology, and wished that the studies to be conducted here would contribute to the scientific world and create new opportunities for young researchers.

Broad research spectrum from plant biotechnology to green nanotechnology

The PlanTech Laboratory was established to conduct research aimed at evaluating plant resources using biotechnological methods, investigating plant-derived bioactive compounds, molecular analyses, green nanotechnology applications, and developing sustainable biotechnological solutions.

In the laboratory, studies on plant biotechnology, plant tissue culture and micropropagation techniques, molecular biology applications, phytochemical analyses, isolation and characterization of plant-derived bioactive compounds, and green nanoparticle synthesis and nanotoxicity will also be carried out.

These studies are aimed at contributing to innovative applications to be developed in the fields of health, biotechnology, agriculture, and environment.

It will serve researchers with its advanced technology infrastructure

The PlanTech Laboratory has been equipped with advanced technology devices that will enable research to be conducted at international standards.

The laboratory houses a Real-Time PCR system, biosafety cabinet, plant growth chamber, spectrophotometer, light microscope, and automated pipetting systems. Thanks to this robust infrastructure, researchers will be able to obtain highly accurate data in a wide range of study areas, from gene expression analyses to phytochemical characterization.

The laboratory will serve researchers from various disciplines, especially Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Health Sciences.

Furthermore, PlanTech will support interdisciplinary research and contribute to the development of sustainable biotechnological solutions by providing a strong infrastructure for university-industry collaborations, TÜBİTAK, and international research projects.

It will be an important center for graduate research

The PlanTech Application and Research Laboratory will provide application and research support for academic studies at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. The laboratory aims to make significant contributions to national and international research projects, increase scientific publications, and enable young researchers to gain applied research experience.

To keep the memory of Fahrettin Ulusoy alive

The PlanTech Application and Research Laboratory was brought to Üsküdar University with the contributions of the Ulusoy Family to keep alive the memory of the late philanthropic businessman Fahrettin Ulusoy.
