Nar Tales Meets TRT

Üsküdar University Young Brains Academy and Üsküdar Nar Movement Club are meeting with TRT within the scope of the “Tell Me a Tale, Let There Be No Virus In It” project, which was planned in collaboration and supported by the European Union Civil Society Dialogue Programme.

With the project carried out in cooperation with Üsküdar University Young Brains Academy and Üsküdar Nar Movement Club, the first steps are being taken for collaboration with TRT to enable 60 female students studying in various departments of Üsküdar University to produce innovative tales aimed at raising awareness for children aged 3-12, and for these tales to reach more children.

A meeting was held at Istanbul Radio with Ahmet Akçakaya, Head of TRT Radio Department, and Ali Fuat Gülmez, TRT Istanbul Radio Manager. Within the scope of this meeting, the Nar Tales Project Management Team explained their project. Ahmet Akçakaya, Head of TRT Radio Department, emphasized that the project being carried out by young people is very valuable and will serve as an example for other young people, stressing the importance of providing the necessary support to young people in this matter, and stated that they would support the project until the end. Akçakaya underlined the importance of “Nar Tales” being an effective and beneficial way to create awareness among children in foster homes, who are one of the project's target groups.

TRT Istanbul Radio Manager Ali Fuat Gülmez emphasized that such a project has not been received from young people so far, and that this project could be evaluated within TRT.

Mücahit Sağlar, who works as a researcher at TRT, expressed his satisfaction with this collaboration, stating that it is important for TRT and Üsküdar University to undertake joint work under the name of Nar Tales within the scope of the project.

Zeynep Matur, one of TRT's Program Producers, said, “I congratulate the Narcanlar, the writers of Nar Tales, for their success in this project, and I am excited to be by their side at every step of the project. In the subsequent stages, I believe all kinds of support are important to reach more children. It is our duty to support this beautiful endeavor until the very end.” She expressed that she would support the project.

Sadık Paksoy, SKS Clubs Officer, stated that this journey began four years ago and that he has been with the students since day one. He emphasized that the Üsküdar Nar Movement Club is honored by the volunteers continuing their journey with the Nar Tales project, and that as SKS, they are ready to support the Narcanlar in every process.

Dr. Nebiye Yaşar, Director of Üsküdar University Young Brains Academy and European Union Project Coordinator, who provided information about the project, said, “I knew from the day this project started that it could set an example for all young people. I am very happy to be consulting the Narcanlar in all the work carried out within this scope. As the Young Brains Academy, the fruits of the support given to Narcanlar will reach all children in Turkey like pomegranate seeds through the Nar Tales Association. Because children are the greatest treasure of this world. The Nar Tales Association, established to ensure the sustainability of our project and to announce its multiplier effect to the whole world, will undertake this mission and carry innovative tales into the future with the Narcanlar as a cultural heritage.”

İklima Ebrar Çiçekdal, President of the Nar Tales Association and Assistant Project Coordinator, used the following expressions regarding project activities: “The Nar Tales project, established for children in foster homes to adopt awareness as a perspective, continues on this journey that we embarked on with the slogan ‘If the Child is Aware, the World is Aware’. The Nar Tales Association has been opened to ensure the sustainability of our project. Within the scope of the association, innovative tales will continue to be produced with our volunteer Narcanlar. Printed books will continue to be sent to all foster homes in Turkey. We aim to reach all children with our digital platforms. It is our greatest wish that our association moves forward into the future, shining like pomegranate seeds, resilient like pomegranate peel, true to its essence like pomegranate kernels, and connected like pomegranate branches.”

Behiye Beyda Çal, Vice President of Nar Tales Association and Project Assistant, said, “While the telling of our awarenesses to our children through tales excites us greatly, the importance of the work done is also very significant. Children need well-written tales more than advice. We feed their souls with tales full of awareness. I wholeheartedly wish for our journey, which began with Nar Abundance, to reach more children.”

Seval Fulin, Secretary General of Nar Tales Association and Project Assistant, also used the expressions, “For our tales to be guiding, the Nar Tales Association is a very valuable process that we have meticulously crafted. Tales are living messages we send to the future for children. I wish that the steps we take for the continuity of the project bring beauty for our children and Narcanlar.”
