Üsküdar Üniversitesi and NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi will represent Turkey at the 11th G20 Neuroscience20 (BRAIN–SPINE–MENTAL–HEALTH) Summit, organized by the US-based Society for Brain Mapping and Therapeutics (SBMT). The opening speech of the summit, to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa on November 21–22, 2025, will be delivered by Üsküdar Üniversitesi Founding Rector and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan, with his presentation titled “Neurotech & AI Tech in Mental Health Care.”
Prof. Dr. Tarhan will explain the role of artificial intelligence-supported diagnostic systems, digital therapy platforms, DtX, brain-computer interfaces, and neuromodulation technologies in clinical applications. He will share with participants the potential of these technologies—which enable individualized treatment approaches in next-generation treatment services for psychiatric illnesses—to increase diagnostic accuracy, optimize monitoring processes, and enhance accessibility, specifically through applications at NPİSTANBUL and Üsküdar Üniversitesi.
N20 Summit and Research Areas
The Neuroscience20 initiative aims to foster multidisciplinary collaborations by establishing a global alliance in the fields of brain, spine, and mental health.
In this context, the goal is to act collectively on topics such as data standardization, policy alignment, neuroeconomic impact analyses, and the unification of international regulations for clinical trials.
N20 supports interdisciplinary R&D and commercialization processes in areas such as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, stem cell therapies, neuroimaging, and neurophotonics, thereby encouraging the rapid translation of next-generation treatments into practice.

The N20 research group, which convenes annually before the G20, shares its research on the potential of neuroscience and big data-driven approaches to shape the future at its Neuroscience20 (N20) summit.
Big data analytics in neuroscience offers unique opportunities to better understand complex processes in the brain, enable early diagnosis of neurological diseases, and develop individualized treatment methods. In this context, artificial intelligence algorithms and machine learning models play a critical role in processing, analyzing, and interpreting neural datasets. The N20 platform aims to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and achieve progress on fundamental issues such as data sharing and standardization, as well as the establishment of ethical frameworks.

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Türker Tekin Ergüzel will also attend the summit to share engineering applications of neuroscience research conducted at Üsküdar Üniversitesi, along with board member Fırat Tarhan, who will share data-driven applications and research at NPİSTANBUL Hastanesi.
