Palestinian Dr. Muaz Oseili shared his academic journey as the first student of the Health Management Doctoral Program at the Graduate School of Health Sciences at Üsküdar University. His affection for Türkiye, the knowledge and experience he gained during his education, and the messages he delivered to young people drew attention. Dr. Oseili emphasized that Üsküdar University became a turning point in the academic journey he had always dreamed of.

Palestinian Dr. Muaz Oseili, the first student of the Health Management Doctoral Program at Üsküdar University, spoke about his academic and personal development journey.
“It became one of the most important turning points of my life”
Stating that he came to Türkiye on a scholarship, Oseili emphasized that Üsküdar University became one of the turning points in his life.
“Pursuing a PhD had been a dream of mine since childhood. Coming to Türkiye with a scholarship became one of the most important turning points of my life. Becoming the first PhD student of Üsküdar University was an unforgettable honor for me,” he said.

“I improved my scientific competencies and strengthened my personal resilience”
Dr. Oseili stated that during his time at Üsküdar University, he achieved significant gains both academically and personally.
He noted that academically he developed competencies in research, analysis, academic writing, and statistical evaluation, adding, “Thanks to the expert and experienced academic staff, I improved my scientific thinking skills.”
He also emphasized that his teamwork, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities became stronger on a personal level.
Thesis Topic: “Examination of Healthcare Professionals’ Patient Safety Culture”
In his doctoral thesis, Oseili examined the perceptions and attitudes of healthcare professionals working in private hospitals across different regions of Türkiye regarding patient safety culture.
Stating that he closely observed the importance of this issue during the pandemic period, Oseili said, “I believe this research will contribute to health policies and clinical practices.”

“Üsküdar became a place of love and belonging for me”
Oseili stated that his years at Üsküdar University were unforgettable and that he found a sincere environment both academically and personally.
He said that he was inspired by the lectures of Rector’s Advisor Prof. Mehmet Zelka and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Haydar Sur, adding, “Üsküdar is a love. This affection is reflected throughout the entire atmosphere of the university. Thanks to my professors, I never felt like a stranger.”
Oseili also noted that he had the opportunity to work with President of Üsküdar University, psychiatrist Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, at NPİSTANBUL Hospital.
“Working one on one with Prof. Nevzat Tarhan inspired me both academically and personally,” he said.
“Türkiye is my second homeland”
Palestinian Dr. Oseili described his attachment to Türkiye with the following words: “The reason I chose Türkiye was cultural and spiritual closeness. People here saw me as one of their own, like a Turk, and that made me very happy. Türkiye is my second homeland.”
A message from Dr. Oseili to young people
Addressing both Turkish and Palestinian youth, Dr. Oseili emphasized the importance of education.
To Turkish youth, he said, “Always value education. Move forward with determination and patience. Make use of the technological opportunities in Türkiye for education.”
To Palestinian youth, he delivered hopeful words, saying, “Being Palestinian is not easy, but your determination is limitless. After every darkness, the sun rises. One day Palestine will achieve its freedom.”
“Being a student at Üsküdar University is a privilege”
Stating that his academic goals include contributing to international scientific production and building a bridge in healthcare between Türkiye and the Middle East, Oseili concluded his remarks as follows:
“Üsküdar University is not only an educational institution but also a home of inspiration. Being a student here is a privilege.”
